Talking Video: Nordschleife Hardcore - BMW M3 CSL following a 997 Turbo

Sport Auto recently arranged "Nordschleife Hardcore".

This is a video of a BMW M3 CSL (stock) with my friend driving, following a 997TT.

The driver of the 997TT is the instructor, Wolfgang Kaufmann. He's a professional race driver (try google if you want to know more about him). Group 1 means the fastest group. Still they have to wait for the Ferraris

Sorry about the sound, apparently the cam and the microphone are attached. Takes a while before they step on it, but fasten you seatbelts and enjoy!

I guess the conclusion is that the 997TT flies on the straights, but has a harder life in the corners vs the CSL.

Remember the CLS only has 360 hp.

Another film where you can see the steering wheel

His BMW M3 CSL. Remember BMW "Art Cars"?

Nice video. Maybe I saw a different one. From my point of view the 997TT, (i.e. the instructor in a lead /follow format), clearly has to slow down to allow the 430 and the slower(student) csl m3 to catch up. I would not draw any conclusion that a m3 is somehow superior to a TT anywhere on that track, straights or twisties. Great video.

I think the 997TT in the video is on normal street tires and the CSL is on r-tires (Michelin PS Cup).

Still in Sport Auto lap times the CSL is a few seconds faster (4) than the 997TT (same tires).
