By the way, on the topic of shifters: Which is the one you need to order to get the shifter boot with deviated stitching?

TX 911 is infamous around these parts
DAD Gear Lever/Handbrake Alu./Lthr
In aluminum: gear lever (partially; 4.1a) including milled in shift
pattern, inlay in handbreak lever (4.3a) with Porsche logo.
Smooth leather finish in interior color: handbrake lever (4.3a),
hand brake finisher (upper section; 4.3b). Aluminum look paint
finish: handbrake finisher (lower section; 4.3c). 249 801 802 803 Turbo Coupe $1,680

This states that the shift **** in DAD is real aluminum, with 'milled in shift pattern'. That's sure what it feels like, too. The only painted plastic part is the underside of the handbrake.

ECA Gear/Handbrake Lever Alu Look 249 801 802 803 Turbo Coupe $995

ECA is your painted plastic (note 'Alu look' above). These are taken from the '07 order guide.

If you get in a car with ECA, you'll see it's metal. Not sure about the inlay pattern, but the surround sections and lower pieces are metal. Hot too. Very confusing, and FWIW, the order guide is never clear.

I have DAD, it most definitely is real aluminum, except for the underside of the handbrake.

Eric,

I'm sorry but I'm going to have to correct you here. Both DAD and ECA gear shifter/e-brake handles are real aluminum. I have the ECA in mine and Larry (HUMMM 3) has DAD in his and believe me, they're both very much real.

Yeah, I knew that....after reading the '07 order guide, it was like I was on a roller coaster. Porsche says one thing, does another. But thanks for the updated pics and clarity. If I could choose today, it'd be the ECA shifter and DAD handbrake. Too bad.

Funny that you should say that because I was in the same scenario as you are now. I originally wanted the ECA shifter with the DAD e-brake but since I've gotten both ECA versions, I've grown to love it. I've compared my ECA with Larry's DAD and the former is definitely a much more elegant setup. OFC this is purely my opinion.

I have a set of ECA in real aluminium for sale. Taken out at 32 delivery miles at the dealership before delivery to me. It is for a black interior. PM me if interested.

The question is, why the heck is DAD so much more $ than ECA? Had I known ECA was real aluminum at the time I ordered, I would have gotten it instead, probably.

I'd been wondering the same thing! After seeing both, I'd think that ECA would cost more!
