I got a ticket for 127MPH on the Garden State Parkway in NJ not too long ago. Long story short is that since then I've slowed down alot. I was very lucky, but even in the USA the penalties can be quite severe. The judge in my case wanted to throw me in jail for 30 days + 180 day suspension. Luckily my attorney negotiated it down to 30 day suspension + no jail, but either way, I've slowed down a lot since then

Guy who was FORCD to sell his MINT 964 Turbo (1994 3.6 Turbo) Black on Black had a boost contoller, three stage selector switch, narosist job on the heads from PowerHaus (full custom motor) and he was caught doing 177++ in a 60. Force lquidated the car for (EGAD!) only $50K to a guy in Conneticut. Car was worth WAY more then and now. He had to sell it in order to NOT serve jail time. His attorny ha gottn a "deal for him under the circumstanes... Contacts I spoke with at PowerHaus confirmed a COMPLETE engine build with $50K+ in reciepts. Botom end, custom pistons, etc... A real shame....

MUCH easier to have an EXCELLENT group to drive with and lots of radar related equipment to keep everyone on their toes, and THEN actually keep it sane.... or take it to the track!

In some states, speeding like that can be considered a FELONY (yes a FELONY arrest and then a felony conviction) so you MUST be very, very careful!!!

That speed here is a felony.

Probably a huge fine, loss of driving for a bit....AND loss of insurability.

simple.... FEAR would do it.... always go with the idea that no one would ever go that fast and also, that even if there's a possibility that you were travelling somewhere in that neighborhood, there's equipment certification that must regularly occur in order to prove that you did what they say you did. Have seen things where the machines misread by a wide margin and so this is part of their fact finding process. The process is a negotiation, and that must be remembered. We have all gone over the limit occasionally, or at some point. Many people just figure that they deserve what they are getting without considering the ramifications. It is important in matters of speed to seek the advice of a SPECIALIST in speed for your particular area. Laws are wildly different from area to area, county to county where their peculiarities change as well. Find someone well versed, and keep them on.... (errr....) SPEED dial. I have a guy locally who is 6 for 6 (for my wife!) who was regularly targeted driving a cute VW convertible when she had to drive to Vancouver BC 2X weekly. She was targeted and ALWAYS well within her rights. 6 for 6 gentlemen. That's why there's a system that works for the PEOPLE.... because there are those who would kill you for the slightest transgression. Find an excellent attorney, have it all taken care of and never go to court. My best advice.... and no felony arrests. Want to lose the right to vote? hold political office? lose your job in securities or insurance? This is ridiculously serious stuff. GET HELP before you get hit. Be careful.

I read something once about a doppler multiplier effect in which a radar gun can give a false reading that is a multiple of the true speed, i.e. 2x. Anyone know anything about this?

Got a ticket in NY doing 105mph in a 997TT. Shortly afterwards my speeds were 160-170 when the conditions were good. I was lucky to only get caught doing 105
