GT2 Sport Bucket Seats - Carbon Fiber & Black Leather

A car that is capable of such extreme lateral loads requires a seat with exceptional support. The standard sport bucket seat has manual fore/aft adjustment plus two additional features rarely encountered on comparable seat designs: a folding backrest and an integral thorax airbag in the side support. The folding function enables easy access to the rear luggage area. The backrest pivots are positioned high in the side bolsters, providing optimum support for the torso, pelvis and legs. This is the first time ever that the lateral support of a bucket seat has been combined with a folding backrest. The backrest shell has a glass-fiber reinforced plastic core and a carbon-fiber surface with visible weave pattern. This construction provides excellent rigidity while also reducing weight (each seat weighs 25 lbs, the stock seats are usually over 40 lbs). Compatible with a race harness, contact us for details.

Is it all leather or can we get the option of leather & alcantara?

 

Can I get the weight on the GT3 cup seats, the GT2, and the OEM GT3 seats?

 

They only come in all leather, and only in black. Here are some seat weights of the seats, with rails and everything (from memory, but I'm 90% sure they're right):

996 GT3 Euro Bucket: 29 lbs
997 GT3 Euro Bucket: 19 lbs
997 GT2 Sport Buckets: 24 lbs

I'm not sure how much your OEM seat weighs, but we weighed a stock 986 seat back in the day (no heat, lumbar, electronics, etc...) and it weighed in at about 46 lbs.

Is there a reason why we can't get the alcantara insert for the middle on the GT2 seat? Can we interchange these insert from the oem GT3 seats?

 

The seats aren't offered from Porsche yet with any options other than black leather or black cloth (other than in a new car sale, in which case there's a whole bunch of different exclusive options that you can pick).

I looked it up and you can buy the Alcantara cushion covers separately (and basically reupholster your seat), they are about $2700 for both seats. I know some guys have taken the cushions to local upholsterers and gotten them redone themselves, which usually turns out to be much cheaper. I have seen GMG do this before with awesome results.

 

Can we use the alcantara insert from the stock seats and put it on the GT2 seats? Is that possible?
