997 vs. BMW 335i Coupe

It's funny, in some ways I like driving my 335 more than the Turbo. It's much more fun to toss around, and quite frankly, it is actually fast.
The Turbo is significantly more substantial-- the pull is more "brutal," the steering is more precise, it's more visceral. You can tell it's better than the 335, but the BMW's driving dynamics are amazing. It's just so perfect for DRIVING. I can't keep my hands off it!
Take that with a grain of salt as I'm comparing the bimmer to a Turbo (996).
BTW, my car dynoed at 276whp/278 lb-ft. That's not 300 at the crank... .

and we all know theres no way 335s only put out 300 crank hp, i think they put down more like 350 hp, thus explaining why a heavier car like the 335 can match a stock e46 in ET in the 1/4 even though its a few mph slower in trap

Strange...my 997TT beats both the 997 and the 335i pretty easily, but my employees 335i with a chip hangs in there better than the 997 C2.
The 335i Coupe with chip is so much fun to drive. If my wife didn't insist on a freakin Tahoe, I would have gotten a 335i Coupe as a daily driver than the Tahoe. The 335 is so tossable, I mean the car has 255 Rears, the 997 C2 has 285? I'm not saying their "par" in handling but the 335 is no "punk".
Not sure if you care, my Lexus dealer told me today that Lexus will offer a $5K turbo kit for the IS350 as a dealer install. This for sure should take both the 335 and the 997C2, heck, it may take the 997S if the IS has enough boost I guess...it's all about the BOOST

Hence why I miss and still love M3's so damn much, that I have to get another.. Just such different driving dynamics straight up!

Haha, I can see my wife rolling her eyes: "Whose car is this? Isn't yours enough?"
It does sound great though.

Just FYI, we had a track day at TGPR (google it if necessary) with the G35 club. There were 2 chipped 335i's there (1 coupe/1 convertible, both with sways and the coupe had full coilovers), along with a Cayman S, 3 350Z's, 3 track-prepped cars, and a bunch of G's (from just bolt ons to full supercharged and twin turbo'd).
I rode in my friend's 335i coupe and was impressed with the amount of grunt coming out of corners. That being said, I think the fastest he ran was a 1:15 while I was able to dip into the 1:08-09 range in my stock C2S. The Cayman was next @ 1:10-11. The 335i coupe and several G's ran R compounds.
