DPEs are great quality wheels and they are famous for their unique finishes and designs. If i remembered correctly they have this finish called Liquid Cinder, it looks so magnificently awesome!

Great wheels, what style and finish were you considering doing on your 997?

I am also thinking of getting DPE, but not until Spring. They look great and from what I remember are lighter in weight than HRE, Iforged, etc...

Jay, if you make it out with us on Sunday, you can see the latest wheel from Fikse. It was designed for the 997, but I am testing them on my 993TT. I just put them on tonight for our drive this weekend. It's their prototype 1 piece forged wheel. Should be released soon. Just something to think about since they are a local manufacturer.

Both DPE and FISKE are quality wheels but you know HRE is the best .I say that because HRE does a considerable amount of R&D before releasing any new wheel designs. I am sure you will happy with any one of these manufacturers.

Yes, I have a DPE S-15 w/ chrome shadow finish 20x12 20x8-1/2, I love this wheel has a 4 inch rear lip with 2inch front lip, very strong, very unique, it seems you have done your home work. Check out the newest wheels from them it's called an S-7 and I would love to see that on a 997. your best deal will be with Tab at elusivefx.com, good luck and post pics when you get...

And you know this first hand huh? How much R&D is really needed in a wheel for strength. All these wheels are made CAD/CAM for design strenth. Apples to apples in strength they are all VERY similar. Same material, just depends on how you want to machine the pockets, bevel the edges, backspacing, brake fitment, lip and design etc. But I can say that the machining done to the face of Fikse wheels is a finish that NO OTHER wheel company could compare too. It takes a very high RPM CNC machie to attain that finish. HRE, DPE, finishes are all about the same. Most of the guys even use the same companies for paint. But you are correct in one aspect, HRE spends the most on MARKETING. If it were my choice I'd pick FIKSE and KINESIS (prior to acquisition from new company) over HRE.
