Gas Tank Won't Fill Up All The Way

Depending on the gas station, the filler at the pump shuts off a couple of gallons short of a full tank. Happens consistantly at certain stations and not at all at others. Even removing the nozzle, waiting a few seconds, reinstalling and then running the pump real slow, still doesn't fill all the way. Anyone else having this issue?

this happens to me too. although It happens at certain stations, it does not occur every time at those stations. What could be causing this?

i had this problem as well...

it has to do with how deep u place the nozzle into the car.

Supose it could be but I have tried putting the nozzle in part way, all the way, gas running at fastest speed and slowed down. Nothing seems to make a difference.

It seems to be something that happens on most cars.. isn't the whole process of filling the tank entirely full called "topping-off" ??

If thats the case, I do this all the time when I am on a long trip.. it helps to wait a while and pump slowly until it stops then repeate. eventually you will overflow the tank which is not cool and can damage your paint so you get an idea of when you should stop.

The shape of your gas tank can result in better or worse issues. Some people actually rock their car a little to get the fuel to settle and fuel some more.
