OK, before anyone else jumps on K-40's nuts, how about this, take the challenge. they state they will refund you your money back if it does not perform better than anything you have ever had... So go to it, step up and do the big boy Calibre DL with front and rear laser diffusers, don't get the little stick in the window one, Itis harlious seeing $100k+ vehicles with a suction cup mount radar detector to the window...The only time it really saves you because of some careless cop had his radar gun on the whole time you were approaching...

I dont know about the caliber but quite a few independent testers rate the escort 9500i. i like the GPS feature and the fact that you will be able to upload speed trap gps info to the unit in the future. Im going to put the blinder laser diffuser on as well. I dont mind the suction cap unit on my car, and so far it has worked as advertised.

cheers

Limey -- any trouble

with GPS reception up there? I have the same detector and am thinking about mounting it where you have mounted yours.

Whirlin - Nope, no problems at all. It cut out once, but came back 30 seconds later, and it was a very cloudy day.
cheers

Cool, Limey. Last question, did you hardwire yours per the general procedure that others have used for the V1?

Hard wire it.

Wire it into your overhead light assembly.

Whirli, yes, straight into the dome light. The only slight change i made since i did not want to cut or solder any of the factory wires was to use the 3M connectors to connect the 12v and ground. Used a small in line fuse, works like a charm. Let me know if you need any details or have any questions.

cheers

Thanks so much, Limey. Just might have to call you. Let me "get in there" to see what I'm dealing with. Don't particularly have a good garage for do it yourself work -- condo tower.

No problem, just take your time and make sure the connections are good, this should help ID the ground and 12 v lines, quoted from rennlist "

Locate the 10 wire harness inside the dome light assembly (there are only 9 wires in there) and remove the black tape carefully with a project knife. The wire at pin 2 is switched 12VDC (THIS WIRE IS BLACK / ORANGE and the wire at pin 10 is ground (THIS WIRE IS BROWN). THERE ARE PIN NUMBERS ON THE SOCKET. NOTE: LOOK AT THE WIRES GOING DOWN TO THE MIRROR - NOT THE WIRES THAT GO UP INTO THE ROOF WHICH ARE DIFFERENT COLORS).

Hey Ice, see if your dealer can swap out the old laser defuser with the new K-40 EX version. it is 80% more powerful than the old, and will now do all the lasers and future laser guns. plus it is about 1/3rd the size

Passport SRX. It is the best unit I have ever had. I have had an 8500, V1 and driven several cars with K-40's The SRX is the way to go and it comes with laser too.
