Blending 91 octane unleaded Premium with 100 octane unleaded Racing

I have noticed a big +++ difference when I blend 50/50. Greater responsiveness and acceleration.

Luckily I have access to Torco pump 100 octane on the way to work. It is $5.35/gal - I think it is very much worth it.......Here is a link to that station in the CA Bay Area,

and another link to a chart for blending 91 octane unleaded Premium with 100 octane unleaded Racing...

Don't you need modified software to get a performance increase from a higher octane?

Not up to 93 octane as this is what the car is suppose to have to begin with.

50/50 gets you to 95.5 octane

50/50 gets you to 95.5 octane -

A big seat of the pants difference in accel. and responsiveness...IMHO... at least for a street commute guy like me..

That is what I was trying to say, no real performance improvement when you go above 93 octane. I run normally about 94 octane in the car as we have crap 91 here in Ca. which isn't even a good 91.

Right... I use 93 octane here in MD but I can get 100... just thought there was no improvement unless you update software so I never do...

I used to run unleaded in my (leased) M3... isn't this REALLY bad for the engine? I would never do this in my 997!

Source and info on reprogramming computer to reap octane boost rewards ?rating ?

Guys-

Curious where I can find more info on need to program computer in order to obtain benefits from > 93 octane gas....

It may be worthwhile to note that if this is true, the other benefit from a 50/50 mix may be that the race gas is not burdened with as much additive garbage and/or is generally higher quality fuel that contributes to a cleaner burn......

If it is 'bad' for the engine than every engine in California is 'bad'.

You've heard the expression 'get the lead out'. In California, and most other states, they took that to heart. Gas, paint, shotgun pellets, chinese toys, etc.
