PS2 or RE050A?

I know RE050 are porsche approved but I wanted to know how many have the PP because I think they are not and besides I'm more interested in the PP because they are better overall in the different categories.

yes all the data was shared and compared no one really said if they used the "PP" tires

So not to beat a dead horse, is there a final consensus on which tires are better overall? I have no intention of starting any arguments. I would just like to know.
Also, if a tire is an OEM run flat, does that suggest it cannot be used on another vehicle that did not come with run flats?

Am I remembering correctly about them (PP's) not being available in the standard C2S sizes or something to that effect?

Well to my surprise I checked the tires on our 530 and found they are the Bridgestone RE050A's!
I have to say that I do not like these tires. They now have 23,000 miles, they are very, very noisey, and they wander on the road.
I believe the sidewall strength is too minimal for the car.
Behavior very unlike my PS2's!
Am I missing something here?

Gcalo, my PS2's are noisy too. For the street no one is useing 25-50% of the tires capibilty so any of the tires that fit our 997's will work jsut fine. Now if you are going to track the car, different story.

My PS2's are very quiet. They always have been.
The utilization % I understand, and I do not track my car.
I am always interested in the tire discussion here and the stated interest in the Bridgestones which I have experienced as not great.
Now maybe there are versions of this tire about which I am unaware and which affect its performance, and maybe what BMW sells as OEM are a reduced version of the tire. I don't know.
I do greatly appreciate your input here.

I put the Pole Positions 3's on one of my MB's when that version first came out and they flat spotted very easily overnight so I was leary about having Stone's on my 997S but as I stated earlier in the thread I have no complaints. I have always been a Michelin Pilot fan going back to when the first came out in the late 80's and have loved them ever since...they are still my favorite tire and probably always will be as they just get better and better with each new variation. There is good reason they cost more than the rest

Digging up an old thread here but thought I would share my recent experience for both the RE050s and PS2. Based on what people were writing and my want to try and save an extra $600, I thought I would try the Bridgestone RE050s to replace my worn out PS2s.
Driving my 997S off the lot, I could instantly feel a difference. I wasn't sure what I was feeling but it was definitely different. The car seemed less settled and the thumps as it went over bumps unsettled the car a little more than I was used to.
I continued home and noticed that the front end pushed more than I was used to and tread squirm seemed a little more than usual and more than what I thought the mold release should be doing.
So with 40 miles on the new RE050s, I called up my Porsche Dealer and asked them if I could put the PS2s on. They did.
I picked my car up in the afternoon with the PS2s and I could instantly tell a difference. Gone was the squirm, push and odd thumping. Regardless of mold release on the tires, it was easy for me to tell the difference.
In the end, I may be nuts but to me there is a definite difference between the RE050s and PS2s. I am just glad I don't have to wait for another 10k before going back to the PS2s. Thanks to my dealership accommodating me.

You seriously cannot evaluate tires by going with the experience you get in 40 miles. That's not nearly enough time to even get the mold release compound off. In addition to that - a full tread tire is going to feel more *squirmy* for lack of a better term for a bit because the tread blocks are taller - more rubber moving around.
You do have a good dealership though!
