6speed advetiser standards: open letter re. burdon of proof for performance gains

6Speed Owners can Raise the standard of proof for manufacturer performance claims
OPEN LETTER TO OWNER/ OPERATORS of 6speedonline.com:
As a loyal and regular user of this valuable site, please allow me to humbly request that you require your paid advertisers to provide scientific proof of their products' performance gains before they be allowed to make such claims on this site.
This would be a rare three-way win: users win, advertisers win, and your site wins:
-We, your users, win: We receive information that we know to be trustworthy and reliable, that no other site provides.
-Advertisers win: Having met these proposed high standard of proof provides them with a badge of merit that no-one else bestows. If they are advertising certain performance gains on your site, they seen as legit and beyond reproach. It would lend a badge of legitimacy to all your loyal paying advertisers.
-Site owners/ operators win: 6speedonline.com becomes the most valuable source of valid information for Porsche owners anywhere. All Porscho-ophiles troll many sites, looking for the best information available. If you can meet these standards, you'll rise above all other sites, and your page-views and unique visitors (and hence impressions which make you money) will rise.
What's the down-side?
Thank you in advance for your consideration of this evolutionary approach.
Sincerely,
CATTMAN
PS Please don't ban me

LOL...if that happened you would loose almost all you ads and then you would have to pay big time to keep this site going. In the ideal world that would be great....but lets get real here. Truth in advertisement.....what a concept.
Great thought.....maybe in Heaven.

This is a great idea but the problem is that there is no (one) standard in measuring performance. Not everyone uses the same equipment, not everyone is in the same area their are just to many variables in testing products today. If the OEM manufacturers take an average on claimed performance and they have unlimited budgets what do you think small companies can do with limited budgets?
It is a nice thought in a perfect world.
The best thing to do is educate yourself as a consumer. The information is around, you just need to do a little research.
Performance products are a lot like other consumer goods. They have been tried by many people and if you ask around you will generally get the real answers you seek regardless of what the companies advertise. While forums are by no means the "bible" when it comes to answers about products they are at least a good starting point to get some basic information.
Just my .02 cents as a consumer, manufacturer, installer, advertiser, vendor and long time member of 6speed.
