Would Porsche void my warranty if I install after market springs?? does anybody know?
I have a 6 years/100k miles warranty on my 05 Carrera S Cab, thinking about installing Eibach springs.. Would that void my warranty if something happens down the line?
Does anybody know???
Thanks

Every dealers views toward mods are different. Some are more strick that others, I personally believe your mod is very conservative so it shouldnt be a problem. i suggest you speak to your local dealer. good luck!

Correct me if I'm wrong, they can only deny you warranty work if the springs caused the problem...but then again most dealers i spoke to are mod friendly...some may tell you to have them install it for them to cover any issues....

You are correct.

Dealers in my area are mod. friendly. But there are ones that don't like to deal with it. I suggest to ask your local dealer's serv. rep. on your mod. Getting good relationship with your tech. is another way to go.
Oh! I see you live in S. Orange County, if you don't mind a little drive for services, go to Circle Porsche in Long Beach. Ask for Alberto, he's a great guy. Tell him, Peter with the Red cab preferred.

It won't void the warranty. If the springs cause the problem I.E. bottem out and crack somthing then they might because the factory ride height has been changed but anything else should be fine. Some dealers might look past the springs because they want the work, warranty still pays the dealers.

It would void the warranty if I had a 911 and changed the springs at my dealer, then again the dealer over here is really dumb they think after market TUV approved after market wheels such as Techart,Gemballa,Speedart and Cargraphic void the warranty too.

Guys, there has been threads on this already in which springs were installed and the PASM failed and dealers denied warranty coverage. Will it happen?Who knows, maybe yes..maybe no. Would this stop me from doing springs, probably not because if the oem PASM shocks get blown out for some reason I will just move on to a Bilstein setup or something along that route as this would still probably be cheaper to do the OEM PASM again.

This whole business of voided warantees is totally blown out of proportion. Obviously, if the aftermarket part causes a problem, it won't be waranteed. If you have aftermerket springs and your PCM screen goes blank, you'll be covered.

Of course it would void the warranty... On anything related to the aftermarket part that is not designed as an OEM replacement (Magnuson-Moss). For example, if you replace the Porsche oil filter with a direct replacement one designed for your car, and there's a problem, I don't feel they would have a leg to stand on in denying your claim. However, if you put aftermarket lowering springs on and blow the PASM shocks and maybe cause some damage under the car (from being so low), then I would think Porsche would do what they've done in every case I've heard of - deny the claim and the owner who made the decision faces thousands in replacement. Is it likely to happen - don't know - I've heard several stories from 10-30k miles after installation.
Me, I'd not mind at all having a lower suspension due to my track use (50%). But I don't want to combine oem shocks designed as a system with the oem springs and ride height with an aftermarket lowering spring. Nonetheless, I would like to at some point put in the whole PSS for PASM system, which is designed as a system (shocks and springs) for our cars. I'd probably be very conservative with the ride height because here in the northeast, the roads are terrible and I already scrape a little with oem height.
