Ceramic coatings of exhaust parts

Has anyone looked at, studied, researched the benefits of ceramic coating headers, cats, mufflers, exhaust tubing in parts or as complete full exhaust for heat reduction. Intuitively, it seems like it should improve hot gas expulsion through the exhaust system and reduce intake air temperature, both of which ought to improve performance. I've heard there have been "header wraps" that have reportedly been of little to no value (but then I've heard a lot of "stuff.")

The fact that the entire exhaust system for the 911 is under the car there is probably no benefit whatsoever for JetHot coating or such. Also header wraps will actually destroy the headers after awhile. I would save your money...Even if there was some heat soak it would be so minimal for the hp level these engines produce it still would't be worth it.

We wrapped the headers on the Ford GT .. but thats only to keep the other items in the area cool on track day.

If anyone wants black or graphite color tips please let me know..

I need more info on all the applications you do on the Porsche exhausts.

mr993, I tried to send you a PM, but I guess I don't have enough posts yet. I have heard that turbo cars can benefit from ceramic coating the headers due to the higher EGTs that their exhausts generate, but, as Dave pointed out above, the benefits for an NA car like mine ('07 997C2S) are probably not worth it. Interested to hear your views. My email is sshjd@aol.com. Thanks for the response.

Cost of JetHot 2000 on Turbo headers is around $300......cheap.
Did mine after port-n-polish......like so many things, affect may not be 'measurable'.
I am going faster than I did last year.......not stopping to figure out why .

I'm with the other guy's... can't imagine a whole lot of need for the Porsche as far as headers go. I did have the headers on my mustang ceramic coated, and would do it any day in a hot rod; so much heat reduction in the engine bay, intake temps, etc... It really is crazy how little heat is felt after just a short while with the ceramics
