Hello,

I have a question regarding my 997S that I'm not sure if it's normal. Because I purchased my car with full Gemballa Power Kit(Headers, Sports Cats, Muffler), I don't want to bring this in until I can get some indication that this is a problem.

This problem occurs when the car is in gear, 2nd-6th, and I'm first slowing down to a stop light or traffic. Before clutching in and coming to a stop, the light turns green, or traffic clears up, I give it some gas, 40%+ throttle at below 2000RPM, the car will studder at first before lurching forward once the RPM hits 2000-2300RPM+. I'm curious if this is normal or if it's a problem with the car or perhaps it's the headers/cats and no software to go with it?

thanks in advance for any input !

I have a 997 C4S that has the same problem. Car was fine with stock set up, also fine with Europipe header/cats/mufflers. But when I replaced the stock airbox with Gruppe M and loaded REVO software at the same time, I have been having the same problem you described.

My tuner believes the airbox is the cause, and he will revert to stock airbox and see. AF ratio has also gone up to a rich 11.5. REVO have promised to look into this and will offer a revised file if necessary.

You're lugging the motor at that RPM. You really need to downshift and use the powerband to accelerate.

Yup...What he said... If it doesn't 'cure' the problem, then come back to us...

Sounds like you are in too high a gear for your speed, and your RPM's have dipped too low for you to step on the accelerator. You should downshift while slowing down, so that when you need to punch it, you're at the right RPM for the gear.

Not to mention you will get to enjoy the sound of your car revving, especially with all the aftermarket gear you have.

Just based on what you've said alone, again, it sounds like it's your driving style, not the car.

That lurching you described sounds like what happens before a stall when one is first learning to drive a manual and they haven't yet gotten used to the right clutch/gas/rpm ratios.

If that's not what's going on, then we'd need more information.

sounds like you may need a new clutch... when adding power to your car you will fly through the stock clutches/flywheels... I would recommend the FVD sport clutch kit and lightweight flywheel...it will even add some more hp

Kevin it is your driving style. There is no way you need a clutch with the amount of miles that were on that car. Porsches are higher reving cars and I believe you need to be in a different gear.

I forgot but am guessing between 5,000 - 6,000. I forget what it was when I shipped it. The clutch is fine unless Kevin burned it or let his chick drive it...lol

Sounds like lugging to me as well. I believe I remember reading something in the owners manual about this. I think it is best for the motor if you keep it above 2k while driving.
