Absolutely lovely car and great post but i most pose a question - why spend a decent amount of money on a Targa and not get the 'S' version?

I just don't understand whenever i see Targa owners (and actually 997 cabs) not getting the 'S' when they are spending more than a base 997 coupe.

it was a targa that i first fell in love with a Porsche too, so yes the Targas are pretty kewl thing if you ask me.

I made the same move recently from a 2007 Z06 to a 2007 Carrera C2S with just about the same discount. Best choice I ever made. Congrats!

As for why there are nto as many Red Porsches, I guess it has been done for so long and with advances in Paint Technology, people have lots of other great choices nowadays.

For me, it has to be Yellow or Red, white is my 3rd choice.

I also hear that with the summer tires AWD will just spin all 4 tires.
I will look at a set of All-Seadon Radials for next season.

As for why not a Turbo, I do OK, but not $100K+ car OK just yet
As for why not the S, 30hp for 10K or AWD for 10K, I'll go AWD.
I want to get away from massive power.

I had the car on I-95 today, WOW!!!!
This car just loves high speeds, at 100 it feels like the Z06 at 50mph, it is just so much more stable than any car I have ever driven.
The power combined with AWD just pulls wonderfully at any speed from down low to up top.

As for why there are not more Targas, I guess you give up some handling and quickness, but the sun shing in through the clear top is very uplifting, it really brightens my day, pun intended.

I was very surprised to see how many people went from Z06s to 911s, now I see why.

I got pulled over today (46 in a 35)

I told the officer, I have had no tickets or accidents since 1987, I just got out of a 505hp Z06, please take that in to account.
I also showed him that the speedo just says 25 and 50, no other numbers.
Duh, my daughter just showed me the digital speedo in the tach

He was a canine officer and the house he pulled me over in front of had a yellow lab that ran up to me. Being a dog lover I started playing with the dog while he ran my info.

Long story short, he came back and gave me a warning.
He laughed and told me "here is your get out of jail free card"

ARREST ME RED or GUARDS RED = Synonyms

Congrats Howard.. I've had a rare Sunset Orange Z06 as well, and went back to Porsche.. But I love the Z06, prob here in cali winter weather will not be an issue as much as over there..I'm waiting for the Zr1.lol

btw with your question, you should be heading towards the 997Turbo

As for mods, none are planned.
I've ran in to too many problems with modding Mustangs and Vettes.
