The 997 is already missed, my 69 year old father took my mother to Atlantic City today in it.

Oh well, he left me the C6 Vert for tomorrow, I haven't driven that in a while, it should be fun.

I can't wait to hear the Borlas.

the Targa will not do any better than the ZO6 in the snow if you don't have the proper tires...regardless of AWD. Great car and color though...congrats.

For next season I am going to swap on some winter specific rubber or at least all season radials.
Bridgestone Potenze Z-rated All-Seasons are available for about $1100 per set of 4, not too bad.
The fronts are the same size and the rears are only 10mm less wide at 295/30/19 compared to the 305/30/19, that should be fine.
Pirelli makes a winter specific tire for around $1400 in the same sizes as the Bridgstones.

I don't plan on driving this car in snow, but just in case of 1"-2" of unexpected snow while I am at work.

I LUV my Targa! I have one just like yours, only a Tip. First, get AWE muffler and "S" exhaust tips....Great sound and DIY easy projet. The nice thing about the Targa is that it is RARE sight and more eye catching to the common man. I have had convertibles MB and still own a restored 68 280 SL.....so I have been there and done that. IMO, its nice to have a Targa for all weather and also you can ride a 80mph....tired of the noise, press a button and the top closes.
Enjoy,
abe

I am going to try and resist mods, but we all know how that goes.

The Targa is nice, and like you said can disappear at any speed with the push of a button.

It was funny, here I am in the Porsche dealership just about to sign the papers....

My wife calls me on my cell and says:

"Your father and I both agree the white car is nicer so don't do anything"
The white car was a new 2008 Carrera 2s on order from Germany with tan leather interior and 19" Carrera Classic rims, very nice and classy, but I always said if I ever owned a Porsche it would be RED.

I paused for a second and replied

"Over-ruled" and then my lack of class came out as I said to the finance guy and the salesman:

"They're hanging now" and then signed the paperwork.

The next fight was over the rims, my wife hates the Turbo rims, she thinks they look dirty all the time, and silver window stripping which she feels clashes with the Turbo rims.

She had the dealership just about to swap the rims straight up with a Carrera S that had optional painted silver 19" Carrera Classics ($390) compared to my Turbo rims ($2440).
Money was not the issue, but there was no way that was going to happen, again, OVER-RULED

Now the silver stripping, the dealership for free was going to make the silver stripping black with vinyl and a heat gun for her.

One more time....

"Over-ruled"

My wife and I are equal partners and always make 50-50 decisions, in fact she gets her way most of the time, but I told her she had to trust me on this one.

I also share my two sports cars with my 69 year old father and I also told him to trust me on this.

Well, it is Wednesday and as of Tuesday, both my spouse and my father agree I made the right choice.

Thankfully, trust me she would make my life miserable

Thumbs up 911 Porsche

Congrats! It is a wonderful feeling.

I too was a Corvette guy for years, also have tried
numerous other sports cars. But when I bought my 911
it was all different & good. I have had mine 2+ years and
still grin and say "Man! am I glad I own this car"

Grin and Enjoy! "There is No Substitute"

I drove my C6 Vert in today.
It is fast and sounds amazing, but the shifter is terrible compared to the 911

"....my wife and I are 50/50 equal partners..", well, so is my wife and I. But if you recall
Orwell's "Animal Farm"....as the pigs said " some of us are more equal than others"

beautiful car....i wish they made a 2 wheel drive targa but i guess their marketing wisdom told them that people like me in FL either get coupe or convertible....i really like the wider body. 4 wheel drive is not my bag for the track but would definitely get it if i had snow here in fl....and be careful as cops love red too!

mkk62 -

The Targa definitely is not a track car either way.
132lbs of extra weight right above your head surely must hurt handling compared to a regular coupe.

Acceleration-wise the Targa 4 manual tranny trails all the other 325hp cars except the Cabriolet and Tiptronics. 0-60 in 5.1 is still not bad.

TT Tommy -

It's been a while since I heard class and myself referred to in the same sentence, most likely back in college.

Gcalo -

Thanks

Howard
