Enclosed shipping is the secure way as it prevents from harsh weather and i suggest you to check with transportmyautomobile.com where they do shipping at a reasonable price without any damage to the vehicle.

Just pm'd you. Most "car shipping companies" are usually brokers in disguise. As mentioned above stay away from them. Once you find someone reliable stick with them as long as you are happy.

++1

Brokers just pass you along to independents for a hefty fee. I've shipped three times (2 of those times coast to coast). 1 out of 3 experiences were very good (the other two were complete nightmares). The challenge is finding a reputable independent who will actually do what is promised (i.e. on time delivery, no damage to car, effective communications). Seems simple but I'm afraid this industry is fraught with issues/ problems.

Sometime back, I got my car shipped via www.uship.com from los angeles to new york, and I believe, they operate in the route, you are looking in for a provider. I am happy with their service. Also, very recently, we got our family member's car shipped via www.isy1transport.com from new york to los angeles, even, its service was equally good. good wishes.

Smile I would highly recommend you enclosed

I have shipped many cars in the united states, and i always use just one company nationwide auto transport, the good thing about them is that they provide free full coverage insurance and they have fast delivery times usually, you said that you got quotes for 800$ to 1400$ i think that doe's are the prices no matter where you look i did a quick check on nationwides website and they showed me 754$ for an open carrier and enclosed carrier 1281$ anyways i think that you should definitely not try to save few dollar and use an enclosed transportation. check it out yourself at https://nationwideautotransportation.com/or you can try http://deliverycarshipping.com/ they are also great

I ended up using Auto Transport City. They were reliable, on time in picking up my car in NJ and 2 days later in Arizona. They were just great. Can highly recommend them. it went smoothly. Post your details and wait for the bids to come in. You can then review each carrier to suit your needs: https://www.autotransportcity.com/

Shipped 997 and BMW X3 from VA to CA via Plycar (enclosed carrier), known in the industry for shipping new Porsche's and other higher value cars from coast to coast.

Far and above the best experience I've ever had shipping cars. They're probably higher priced than most, but worth it in my opinion (having experienced damage from other carriers in the past).

No ramp clearance to worry about, the car is simply driven the onto a large lift gate (at ground level)...then the driver raises the car up to the height of the trailer.

Here's a sample video....

Recently my neighbour had shipped his car from California and he had hired an auto transport company https://www.allstatetostateautotransport.com/to transport his car. One can go to the transportation company for safe and secure transportation.

There are a few options that ship internationally from the U.S. One I know of is All State To State Auto Transport but there are certainly others out there. The main thing you should check for is to see that they maintain local offices in both California and Mexico City (the one I mentioned does). This will make it easier to address any issues or miscommunications should they come up.

I have gotten quotes of ~800 for open carrier, and ~1400 for enclosed carrier from many different companies. I'm worried about weather and rock chips, so I think enclosed is the better way to go. Thoughts?

Much thanks in advance.
Try this Company https://quantumtransportsolutions.com/ , I had used it to ship my car from Florida to Texas, they shipped it in the given time and didn't take any extra charges.
