Rear leg room.. Targa vs. Cabriolet vs. Hardtop?
I own a 996 C2 Cab.
Looked at a 997 Targa, it looks as if there is more room in the rear, is that correct, or does it just seem that way?
Im curious of the rear leg room differences for Targa, Cabriolet, and Hardtop models.
Also, difference between 996 and 997 models.
I have 2 small children, and although they hardly ever ride in the back, I am curious if they would be more comfortable in a newer model, perhaps a 997 Targa.
Thanks!!

You will have more room in the Targa. Also the position of the back seat on the Cab angles forward...very uncomfortable. The Targa back seat angles at a more natural angle. I do not know specifically the leg room differences...but again because of the back rest angle the Targa is more comfortable. The best thing would be to go to a dealership and sit in the back.

I have a 2007 Targa, my 2 kids are both 5' tall exactly, my son is 12 and my daughter is 16.
They actually say it is pretty comfortable back there, they say the Targa roof keeps them from getting claustrophobic.
The Porsche actually has more room in the back seats than my daughter's 2007 Mustang GT, the Mustang is a HUGE car with little interior room.
Part of the reason the Targa works for us is I am only 5'7" and my wife is 5', we don't have our seats back as far as a 6' tall person would.

Had a 996 cab, 997S cab and now a 997TT. There is no legroom difference between the three but the cab has the top and roll hoops behind the rear seats (as stated previously). So the rear seatbacks are angled perpendicular to the seat base, it's like sitting in a box. In my coupe, they angle back enough that my kids feel like they have more room. When I look back there, they don't look like they are leaning forward anymore. My 7 and 8 year olds fit fine but my 10 year old can't sit back there. Hope that helps.
