Help Needed Selecting Rims

I'm hoping you can help me select rims for my new 997 C4S.

So far, I like the look of the Champion RS 97's. So, that is the look I am after. Any ideas on who makes similar rims. Also, what is the cost? My dealer wants 9 grand for the Champions.

Thanks,

Dan

Dan if there is one aftermarket wheel that I would do it would be the Champs RS 97's. That is the only aftermarket wheel I like...it actually looks like a cleaned up Lobster...but just lighter and wider.

HRE P43. Everyone seems to like the P40, but the P43 is my personal pick.

I would stick with either HRE, Fikse, Champion, or BBS.

HRE produces an excellent product- extremely strong, lightweight, and good-looking. They are all basically custom.

9 grand for the Champions sounds like a ripoff. Check with Wheel Enhancement for their prices. I'd be surprised if they cost much more than 5 grand there. At least, that is the range that the RS98s and RG5s sell for. I bought some Champion RG5s recently from a fellow 6speeder. Haven't mounted them yet as I'm deliberating on whether to get a newer Porsche first. They are very light weight. The HREs look great too, as do many other brands. I found folks at Wheel Enhancement very knowledegable and helpful.

The biggest advice I have is get something lightweight and that you like. The stock wheels weigh 23 lbs in front and 27 rear. I would look for something lighter or at worst similar weights in buying rims. Don't go out and buy heavy as hell Maya's or something like that. I went with HRE comp series wheels in 19" as the fronts weigh only around 19lbs and the rears are 20 lbs...very impressive for a 3-piece wheel and very strong.

Thumbs up

Depending on the color of your car, I think the BBS RS-GT's with diamond black centers are awesome. Not sure why they aren't more popular.
