Nope, they won't lower more than 15%.
I tried, and they are firm.
I got mine 21% off from out of state, and they won't match it.
I think your 15% discount is good.
Mark is good to deal with anyway.

Ok, 15% brings me down to 79,000. Do you think they can include navigation on that car? I dont understand how a carrera S doesnt come with navigation standard.

What dealer discounted the car off 21%? I would not mind leasing a car out of state if they are willing to discount that much.

Sorry, its left over and no more.
I am sure after the 09 came out, there will be plenty of left over that you could get a big discount by the end of the year.

If you dont mind, can you tell me what type of porsche it is and how much you are paying. Please give me the specifications, as in mileage, term, etc. Thanks.

Grandsport, you need to enable private messaging. I don't know the seller, seems like a great car and price is negotiable.

To continue this discussion......

I had a very unpleasant correspondence with one of their Internet Sales Manager named Jun. They have a huge inventory of '09s left on their lot. I am interested in an '09 C4S so I try to negotiate a deal with them. The guy basically told me that all they can only offer is 8% off MSRP, either take that or walk. I was not being very forceful and remained polite during the email exchange, but tried to negotiate for a bigger discount. It seems like he had a short fuse and started to ridicule me after a few emails. It was by far the worst experience I have had with sales in many years.

Not matter what you sell, a Porsche or a Mazda, you are still a car sales person in the service industry. This guy seems to lack the basic common courtesy and the fact that "customer is always right".

KEV: had a similar experience this winter at Brumos Porsche in Florida, and this with a saleman who had been romancing me for almost 6 months. I have no disagreement with anyone who tries to maintain high margins, but I'm shocked at people (or dealerships) who are still thinking 2007 rather than 2009.

My sentiments exactly.....

South FL dealers are notorious for this kind of "attitude" as well. I understand that it is their job to try to get as much profit from the customer as possible. However, in this information age, one can easily get a hold of the once "secretive" invoice pricing for most vehicles. Of course customers won't be expecting to shell out more for a car that has been sitting in the lot for a while, especially with the MY2010 rolling into the dealerships across the country. I guess if there are enough people that buy into their sales tactics, they won't care about losing a couple customers and letting the cars sit on the lot.

On a slightly different tone, being firm on your price is fine on my books, but giving a customer a piece of your mind is totally inappropriate no matter how you cut / dice it. Imagine if I talked to my patients that way at the hospital, I would be yelled at by my seniors and my program director will probably have a REALLY long talk with me. I don't know how the hell they get away with bull crap like ridiculing potential customers.

Not to hold a grudge against them but I hope that manager will be replaced soon.

If you have not moved on a car yet, a word of caution. 5/29/09 I took delivery of our 42 wedding anniversary present/bucket list, which took me 30 days and in excess of 350 phone calls to purchase. As a semi-retired auto broker with 20 years experience, I assumed I was in familiar territory, not so with Pcars. I have sold just about every brand that rolls, floats or flys. In my quest I contacted just about every Pcar dealer in the US informed the sales manager of my experience with the intention of not being "worked". A few were respectful, although the majority were oblivious or either turned me of to liner, who couldn't sell apples. For the reader's digest version, you have a budget: $5,000 down/lease term 36 month at 12K mi / Payment 1,000 month. Now you need the depression for 36 month and interest rate. Work backwards, go to your bank, now the goal is set, walk into the dealer as a cash buyer. In your responses you did not specify the year, an 08 is a noncurrent with a blue book value. Select the equipment that is essential to you, find a car that fits your needs. In my case I have the contacts to buy wholesale and make installations myself, you may not have that capability. Additions on the retial make will be more expensive, so get what you want or must have with the car. A word of caution: the Gallery attempted a bait and switch with me, I drove 550 miles to look at 5,000 mi .1 C2 with price quote, be very careful with these guys. I purchased a new 997 with 64 mi for $1,000 more than a used one. If your were interested in a 08 Cab 4s I was offered one for $50K off MSRP, there is inventory out there. Try Carlsbad, their sales manager is a genuine, and worked his way up from the bottom. Good hunting. OH, I purchase mine from Cascade Porsche, Akron OH, a small family owned dealership.
