front-end damage a deal-breaker?
Hello gang-- what do you think of this deal?
06C2S
nice options (leather, chrono, bose, etc...)
low miles
$61K
The fly in the ointment? Previous front-end damage encompassing bumper, hood, and fenders--doors ok but still received feathered paintwork. I am planning on speaking to the service manager to get a more specific idea of damage, but anyhow looking for opinions and questions to ask service manager. fyi carfax and autocheck are both clean...
great deal or run like the wind????
thanks, scratching my head here trying to make a decision...

I don't like paint . However in my local area so many 996 and 997 cars had the xenon lights stolen that many of the used cars have paint .
The key with your car is --what happened and was the car's structural integrity compromised in any manner ?
Plus an 06 with paint -- 50's .
If it has more than 10K miles and paint --LOW 50's .

I'd definitely say you have some room for negotiation. I wouldn't rule it out all together if the damage wasn't extensive and has been repaired properly, however they'd have to sweeten the deal quite a bit to justify it or else you'd better plan on owning it quite some time.

Bumpers alone are no big deal, and when replaced with new OEM and painted to perfection, won't drop resale an ounce. Bumpers can get dinged in a parking lot.
But if it's hood and fenders, there should be a discount. And you need to know what happened, and ensure the paint it perfect, and that there was no structural damage.

Just open the hood, peel back the carpet, have a look at the factory spot welds on the front inner structure. Look on the underside of the hood, open both doors and peek in towards the back end of the fender (both sides), look at the hinge pillar... then run

Better yet, get it inspected by a Dealer or someone else that you trust that knows what to look for.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I called around and found the porsche dealership that had owned the car a month ago. It was an auction car they had purchased and found frame damage, etc... Since they couldn't CPO it, they sold it to the current Dealership (an internet used car place). Anyway, the service guy at the Porsche dealership was top-notch and gave me the scoop on the car. He had a great line ---'if the car was good, it would be sitting on our lot...' That made sense to me.
Anyway, I still bought the car, frame damage doesn't seem that serious.
Ha Ha, just kidding i am continuing my search elsewhere, really appreciate the input from everyone. If anyone has a line on an 06 C2S black or basalt, black or gray interior, low miles let me know...

06 C2S coupe FS
I have a client ( yes, I am a Porsche dealer, since 1990 ) that is selling privately his '06 997 C2S coupe. Black with Aero Kit. Very nicely optioned and still under 2K miles.
I sold this car to him new. Absolutely NO body work and in excellent condition. He also owns a 997 Turbo in his collection . If interested please contact me and I'll go over exact details, etc.
Thanks,
Robert Woolslager
