Oil change interval ?
#5
I changed the oil the first time at the end of the break in mileage of 2k miles. I only drive my 08 997 about five to six thousand miles per year. I consider this low mileage driving. Low mileage usage will cause condensation in the oil; therefore, I change my oil every three thousand miles or six months, which ever comes first. I'm not a auto expert and I know many of your may not agree, but I have been to many regional tech sessions at independent shops which have recommended what I have stated above. My first tech session was in the mid 1990's at Tom Milner's PTG Motorsports in Virginia. Their chief BMW engine expert recommended it. So, I have been sticking with the oil changed ever since.
My 2 cents..........

I only drive about 7000 - 8000 KM per year, I am not sure what Porsche recommends, but based on my driving it has been recommend once a year.

I did my first change at 2000 miles, after that it will be once per year or about every 5000 miles whichever comes first. Cheap insurance - makes me feel good and a simple DIY.

damn, you all must love oil changes... every 20,000 miles is good enough... and you can go with the oil for 2 years or so if you want to... some even claim you never have to change it! especially since you're topping up all the time
I hope the guys stating here they changed the oil at 2k they did it themselves... or your dealership is getting rich at your expense!!

For 05 and 06 Model years Porsche recommended every 20K miles (or 2 years) due to "Issues" they revised it to every 10K miles or every year.
Engine oil still suffers breakdown due to running extra hot (e.g., at the track) absorbs water that does not "boil out" if taken on repeated short drives, breaks down over time...
Hell, I don't care what other people do with their cars I just like to look after mine.

First change at 1,000 after that, once a year or 5,000

On every Porsche I have had I changed it every 7500 miles , I never faced a problem . If a year goes by I may consider an early change on my Turbo as i will not have that many miles and the car is heavily modded .
I am about to make the jump to 700Hp so the oil change would be needed every 5K miles .
