How much boost is VF shooting for?

It was my understanding and correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the 3.6/3.8 EVO SC was running 5 psi, and the 3.4 EVO SC was running 6psi.

Is 295 rwhp on the high side for a 3.6? Any mods (intake, software, etc)?

No mods. Factory stock on the dyno with the exception of rims. I was at the rss dyno day and witnessed the stock 3.6 997 make 289rwhp. Im not sure how my car compares to others. I was told that to figure out flywheel power, multiply the rwhp by 1.18 on rear wheel cars. 295.8 comes to 349 to the crank. That seems really high for a 3.6. Porsche only claims 325. Vf will be raising the boost from 5 psi to 6 psi at peak. There still running the tests, so the boost figures aren't really certain yet.

It isn't the same thing, what bugs to work out? New pulley? The system is already designed, the S is a completely different motor that will require different tuning.

My mistake, I forgot the 3.4 and 3.6 boost levels were different. The 3.8 is running the lowest boost at 4.5 psi.

It would be nice if they could do 6 psi on the S... hopefully they will raise the boost on that soon..

It sound like that that dyno is reading high.

On the first "S" testing, they (evoms) reduced boost cause it made to much power (i believe over 500hp)...

Because it made too much power or because they were worried about reliability? Too much power is a problem I would like to have.

Mark,
I hope that's not what they are doing to your car . I just had a flash of 997 engine blowing up the picture by luis must have influenced that .
I am sure they are taking care of your car . and if anything happens they can remove everything and you can take it to the dealer for a warranty repair .

Very Interested

Hi Mark911997Sc

I am very interested in your results as I am getting the same install next week (at AWE Tuning in Willow Grove, PA). I actually went in about 6 weeks ago and they said VF was looking needed to update the software for the 997, and offered to give me the same deal they gave you (including shipping the car from and to PA). I guess they had second thoughts and found a local "donor".

AWE called me up yesterday and said VF was just finishing up the software programming and would have the SC and software etc shipped to AWE by next Mon for a Mon-Wed install on my car.

So I sure hope you car has worked out fine(!)

Nigel

Hi Paris_CarreraS

I see you have Tubi header & muffler, do you have any sound clip posted ?
Do you notice any horse power gain ? I am debating whether I should install Tubi or AWE exhaust system (or AWE header + cat + Tubi muffler).
Thanks, WW

There are many threads here about that exhaust subject, but most do say, not to mix AWE with Tubi as the Tubis do very little silencing and are designed to work with the stock cats... AWE mufflers are designed to work with their cats otherwise with the stock cats they are very quiet.
