Ipod Hookup?
Can someone please tell me what is the cheapest and best way to get an ipod hooked up on an 08 997. I really dont feel like spending too much on it cause on my x5 i had the same prob and found a $40 wire that hooked to the back of the navi, connected to the ipod and vooala! Any help is appreciated.
thanks

i agree with u all about the price of the car to the price for ipod integration, but y pay so much for something that could be found (as in the bmw) for so cheap? If there are no other options i will go with the dension, is that the best out there, does it also power up the ipod? again any help appreciated, funny comments as well...always do enjoy a good sense of humor.

I like cheap too, but with PCM and MOST
there simply is no other option that FM modulation, Dension or NavTek. There isn't a aux-in on the PCM unit.
Dension seems best.

Do any of you know if it works with the ipod nano. The newer one with the video? Can this be done without taking the center console or nav?

I've had both a IPOD Nano and a 30Gbyte IPOD attached to my Dension. Both worked just fine (eg. the same).
Mounting the IPOD itself in the trunk compartment (hidden behind the removalbe panel) on top of the PCM unit is I think the most common location. The Dension unit itself mounts right next to it. 12 volt power is picked from from the CD changer connector (extreme left side). The 'difficult' part is figuring out how to remove the plastic surround at the rear of the trunk and tapping into the fiber optic loop. The Dension instructions as I recall were pretty good regarding the fiber optic connection.
No need to touch anything inside the 'cockpit' other than the PCM dials when you set it up.
There's plenty of threads showing this installation location and procedure on this forum and Rennlist or Rennteam.
Go Dension . . . . You'll be pleased (a non profit remark).
If you're 'handy' w/ basic tools and careful you'll have no problem.
