997 Rear Child Seats?

Any updates here? I am interested in which booster seat would work best for my 4 year old son.

I have my 4 year old in the front seat of mine. I use a Graco Booster Seat, the air bag automatically deactivates on my 06.

Hmmm, any idea if the airbag automatically shuts off in the '05? Might be a harder pitch to the wife re front seat versus the rear. Trying to find which booster works best in the back!

If your 05 doesn't have it from the factory, then the dealer can install it. To try it out put 10+ lbs on the seat and a "Passengers Air Bag Off" light will turn on on the centre console (by the gear shifter).

As for front seat vs back seat, my son loves it because he can see more and he has a ton of space!

Fisher Price Safe Voyage Booster works well in the back. It is made by Britax and the base is narrow(but adjustable). I also removed the back seat and back rest to get more room in the back.

That sounds about right, since wives seem to tell us how to drive from there

I have heard that the dealers will no longer "retrofit" the auto airbag "off" system for the front seat of an '05. I hope I am wrong about that but that is what the "parts" guy at Newport told me.

I have a 4 year old daughter and the front seat just makes more sense if it can be done....

Thanks-

SD

I just picked up a Porsche Junior Seat on ebay. My daughter is 3-1/2 yrs old and petite for her age, so this seat should last me for a while. I was quoted $516 plus shipping for a new one @ Sunset Imports in Oregon (if you didn't know, they sell Porsche parts @ dealer cost).

I've seen this seat installed in the rear of a 997, and it fits perfectly. The front seat will have to be moved up a little bit. Otherwise, it should work fine. You might be able to see that the seat bottom cushion is contoured for the child's legs, so they will not be pinned against the back of the front seat.

Here's a link to an ebay auction for the Porsche Junior Seat:

Here's the auction I just won:

Good luck with your search.

Thanks Much-

Just curious- is your 997 an '05? because I believe the '05's do not have the airbag OFF device available anymore (for the front).

Do you use that for your 4 year old in the back seat?

Thanks-

SD

Thanks Andre-

That one for the Cayenne looks very similar- I will check with the dealer-I would love to get that in sand beige- that will probably cost me another $300 or so- I will call on the lead you gave me-

Cheers -

Yes. I always put my son in the backseat ALWAYS. The seat is made for that and fits like a glove. It's your best choice by far. made for porsche by porsche.

oh and yes my car is a 05 997s

I use the bottom half of our booster seats from our Volvo- They are 2 piece seats that you can get at any Volvo dealer- They fit perfectly in the rear of my 997- I have 6 year and 9 year old daughters that love to ride in the Porsche.

I did the same. I think price and fit make this the best option.

I also took out the upright part of the back seat for a better fit for the booster and back.
