nitrous oxide
I don't know much about it, never had it on any car. I'm curious why I haven't heard of people using it. Could some one give me the reason or reasons this is not used TIA.

Cheap horsepower for short bursts but expensive to keep refilling !!
Wouldn't want it on all the time..like a supercharger..would grenade the motor.
Also, nitrous,IMO because it is meant for short bursts which would lend itself to being used in quarter mile cars...which most Porsche owners wouldn't do alot of.I liked the nitrous set-up in my last car filled a power void low in the RPM until the supercharger kicked in,it also cooled the air for the charger!
Besides looks impressive,LOL !
This is just an opinion!

A power adder is a power adder. It needs correct tuning, fuel, etc. Too much boost can grenade a motor, as can too big of a shot of nitrous, or running way too lean.
Your supercharger sounds like a centrifugal since it did not have boost down low.
As far as most Porsche owners not concerned with the quarter mile, take a look at the turbo forums some time.

This post just is odd.

But to say "This post is odd"...?

I feel nitrous is cheating . It's like some type of automotive version like an athelte taking steroids .
My feeling is win with 100 percent motor .
The same in sports .. play fair .
It's ok to lose . It's not ok to cheat. Just my opinion.

It's interesting to hear what has been said so far but why do you suppose they are so rare maybe non existent on this forum? superchargers you see plenty but how many on this forum have nitrous?

I think the reason you don't see nitrous on the regular carreras is because if you want straight line power you just go for a turbo. Then you tune that platform to your heart or bank accounts content.

Many professional drag teams use nitrous as a power adder. They race vehicles worth much more than many carrera's put together.
#12
But they are racing with an intent on a specific course .The distance set attaches parameters for the race . A base C2 is not a drag racing car. It's a versatile street car with some track abilities .

Thank you for pointing out the base C2 is not a drag racing car. Not that I said it was earlier, or at all. The point was, nitrous is not some cheap junk people with cheap cars throw on to try to be faster.

sorry for sounding ignorant, but I'm pretty sure we were discussing the recreational use of nitrous oxide on cars (i.e. the recreational use of it on a Porsche may compare to the recreational use of it on an old Buick at the drag strip...) I'm sure there are uses for it in professional drag racing but isn't that a bit different from strapping a bottle on to a 3.6 liter Porsche engine??? or maybe there is a new NHRA series for 997's??? let me know what channel that is on because I would like to watch!

I've seen an 04 S 600 with nos. It was pretty sick.
I think unless you have some serious ducets putting it on a Porsche would be a little scary. As for what someone said earlier about it being mostly on buicks at the strip, it's kind of the truth. If you blow an engine on a 93 camero it's a lot cheaper to replace than a Porsche engine.
