I don't know if I would wait until Sept (just depends on how patient you are), but you can bet prices will drop even further. In my opinion, the MK2 offers significant improvements over the pre-09 cars. That in addition to the bad economy, etc will drive prices even lower. I'd try to get 10% off the asking price.

Your observation is correct but i guess 10% off right now is pretty hard to get...

If this is really the car you want I say go for it. If this is your first Porsche you are truly in for a treat. How long do you expect to keep the car?

You CAN get 10% off pretty much any 08' C2S or C2 on a dealers lot today. I called a few dealers (out of state) to see if they would match my local dealer and after about 3 min. ('Really - what's the VIN on the car you are looking at?' - me 'It's ALL cars in stock except turbo, GT2, etc.') they agreed over the phone to 10%. At that price they said it would only give them $1500 profit - not sure I believe it.

The low optioned 08's are going quick because of this. Hard to justify high $70's for an 07' (or 06'!) when you can find a brand new 08' for almost the same price.

See my post in the other thread. Discounts are also available on ordered 09's - the economy is in the tank, dealers don't want all that 08' inventory on their lots, gas prices are rising... good time to be a buyer.

Me? I'm waiting a couple of months to drive the PDK and see where prices go. I know I'll really want the 09' when I see it, I just need to rationalize spend that much $$ and ignoring a great deal on an 08'.

If you can settle somewhere in between 65-69 call it a day. Maybe negotiate some new tires into the deal.

You're right 997xpress, here in Southern Cali. They're quoting 10% off MSRP...that's at least 8-10K off of a nicely equipped brand new '08, putting it around 79-85K. We'll see how things play out. I'm still trying to get some to take over my BMW lease...arrgg
