There is a reason for running the higher tire pressures, they provide more protection for the wheels in normal street driving. One good pothole or depressed manhole cover taken at speed can ruin a wheel. Lower the pressures for track or autocross.

Be aware also that running over a road hazard can "burp" the tire, lower its pressure and make it much more vulnerable to the next hit.

Great points I had not considered but are you referring to 19" or 20" rims or both, please.
