Changing dash gauge dial faces- easy or hard?

If I pick up a set of OEM painted gauge faces, are they easy to swap in or is it a total PITA? Anyone tried this?

I have heard that it is a total PIA, however since you have the guages, go for it. Just take lots of notes and pictures and post the results.

LOL- it's an "effort-to-reward" ratio.. If it's a huge PITA, i'm not going to mess with it.

no I have not bought them yet- was thinking about it... white or matching sand beige would look nicer than the standard black.

Stay with the black, the silver in my S is tough to see at times.

A friend of mine did it in under 30 minutes. Cluster removal is fairly easy, as well as removing the cluster faceplate. I can ask him for some tips if you like.

that would be awesome- thanks. Most concerned about how to crack open the housing and proper removal of the needles.

What do you think- Sand beige to match the interior, or white?

I have not installed them personally, they came as a dealer installed option on my car. However the sand beige is a nice (if unnecessary) touch. I think that it looks pretty good with the interior. It doesn't jump out like the red face does, but is a little more subtle.

Here is a photo. I used a flash which seems to make them jump out a little too much, but you get the idea.

s4r- Thanks for the pic, it's still a tough choice! The matching sand beige gives a nice integrated look, and the white gives a more classic sporty look.
