EVOMS= Evolution Motorsports Cold Air Intake.
But his belongs in the 997 forum, not the For Sale forum.

also have an EVOMS intake if only for the wail over 5K RPM ...not sure of any performance benefits (of course increased decibels = increased hp, according to my butt dyno that is)

X-51, It is factory and the carbon fiber is excellent.

According to my Butt dyno it adds 50 HP.

That isn't the intake that gives you the extra HP, it's your Plenum

You got that right!!! That plenum was another 50HP on top of the first with the Intake until somebody here tried to tell me it was only worth 5 at best!!

Anyone have any personal experience regards to K&N ? I read a lot of negative posts but they all seem like second hand knowledge, e.g. they never owned one, so I can't go off their 'stories'.
Just curious.

I have but not on the Porsche. My conclusion is they are more of a Pain then they are worth. In that I am referring to the cleaning and Oiling. I personally don't like doing it.

In addition to what I read they let more air into the engine but with that came more dirt and wear.

So I stayed with the Factory Paper filters in the X-51. I clean them every time I change the oil by just knocking them against the top of the garbage can. It always amazes me as to how much dirt comes off the filter when I do this.

we had our K&N installed on our 996 a week ago. 2 days after the install the check engine light came on. a day later it went off, and now back on again. the car is going in on the 19th to see if it's the mass air flow or the O2 sensor. aghh! hopefully, it will all workout and be fine.

it does sound good along with the fabspeed muffler bypass that we have in the car. i didn't notice any HP changes (less or more). i'll X my fingers that we don't have any other issues with it. =)

Exactly. That's what I've been reading about. I noticed that newer K&Ns come with some sort of mesh 'bag' to go around the K&N cone filter instead of oiling it for that same CEL issue.

GL with your car @ the dealer. Hopefully you don't have to replace your MAF sensor.

I bought mine last December and installed it myself which is not easy to do, you need to need to cut a hole in the lid and put in a new oil filler tube, both are challenging.

I think my total cost was in the $7-800 range.

Yep that is another drawback of the K & N, oil in the intake on the sensor. That may or may not be your problem.
