Here comes the debate again: AWE vs Fabspeed. I wish the folks at the respective companies would chime in. For a consumer like me, it's confusing with so many options.
It seems like this is very subjective. I have been contemplating between tubi, awe and fabspeed for around 6 months and still don't have a conclusion (I'm not in a rush either.) I love how the tubi sounds on the champion website, but seems too pricey for me. I think most people recommend AWE, yet people are stating it's not that loud, which seems contrary to what I've heard. Also, others have stated that AWE doesn't sound that great at WOT above 4k rpm. My response to that is why would you want an exhaust that sounds great at half throttle below 4k rpm? Something sounds strange. Can someone give more insight.
Many thanks.

I think that they both make a good system (my headers are Evo witch I think are made by fabspeed), however I would go AWE if I were doing it again. They have great CS and there products are very well built.
GL with your decision.

Thirty+ years ago the debates were always Ford Vs. Chevy.
Now it's AWE vs. Fabspeed!
Holy smokes!
too bad there is not a more numerical way to equate the two so evaluation would be put to rest!
The present discussion now "AWE's" me!

Like I have posted many times over, I have Fabspeed mufflers the same set since September 2006 well over 25,000 miles and 25+ track days. The Fabspeed hold up very well.
There are a lot of 997S car that track with me that have Tubi, AWE, Fabspeed and so forth. To my ears the Fabspeed sound the best at over 5000rpm....they really have that Cup car wail. At idel the Fabspeed are a little deeper sounding where as the AWE are stock like quiet.
So if you want a little extra sound go for the Fabspeed, if you want almost stock car quiet go for the AWE.

For Mufflers, it's Fabspeed. I had a set on my 996 and they were terrific. I've got a set on my 997S, and love them. Their sound is more dramatic than AWE.
Check out my video showing stock vs. modded:

However, it's AWE all the way for cats.
For headers, I'd do x51 from Suncoast.
EVOMS for the cold air kit.
Finally, chip it. GIAC, Softronic, or custom.
With that (and a plenum- no flames!) you're set. Major performance upgrade.
