Lightbulb A question for the wizards - winter tires and rims

Good Morning Everyone,
i was interested in buying winter rims and tires from a gentleman. and i wasnt sure if they would fit so i would figure who better to ask than my fellow porsche drivers.

What i have
2008 C2 Coupe

Rims and Tires
2 Dunlop Sp Winter Sport M2 205/50 R17 89H M +S Tires
2 Dunlop Sp Winter Sport M2 225/45 R17 91H M + S Tires

when i spoke to my dealer porsche of roslyn, the parts department told me that it definately wouldnt fit, and that you shouldnt put 996 rims on a 997, but you could put 997 rims on a 996, or that i may need spacers, is there any truth to all of this?
i just wanted to thank everyone for all of their help and advice in advance,
Steven

I wouldn't do it, 17" wheels are small. I would be surprised if they even fit over the brakes.

I would find a set of used 997 18" wheels and mount winter tires on those.

17" will fit C2's if sized correctly, width and offsets are not listed. Your tire sizes are a bit off. I'm presuming your rears are 255 and not 225 as listed. Ideal tire sizes are 215/50 17 and 255/45 17.

Check out my 997 snow thread in wheels/tires and feel free to call me if any questions.

^ well there you go!

I would not go with 17's though, it is pretty easy to find an inexpensive set of takeoff 18" 997 wheels.

Are you still looking for a set of wheels? I have a set of powder coated lobster forks in 19's (OEM) with tires (7,500 miles left on them) and doing it for $1,250 shipped with H&R spacers, center caps, and lugs. Let me know if you're interested.
