Need a set of winter rims
What do you guys think of this set of rims?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/18-PO...spagenameZWDVW
I am a Porsche newbie and looking to get a set of winter tires and rims. Didn't want to spend an arm and a leg, but still want something that looks good.
I assume these are replicas. What is the consensus of OEM vs. Replicas? What do you guys think?
BTW...I got a 06 C2S currently with 19" Sport Design Rims.
Thanks!

it scares me. maybe somebody has good experience with them but i'd worry about getting lousy chinese knockoffs.
call wheel enhancement and tell them you're looking for a good deal and they'll find you one.

My new 09 997.2 is being built now. I've already purchased a set of 4 winter wheels and rubber from the dealer, got the Carerra 3 wheels at cost from the dealer parts, which wanted to clear them out.
Ok, sure its almost $4k for the 4 wheels for the Targa 4, but I consider that money well invested in a $106k car.
To be fair, that $3928 was for four fully complete wheels. The 4 Carrera 3 rims ($2100), 4 TSP sensors, 4 valves, 4 colored crest center caps, and 4 tires on them (Michelin winter tires). Ok, they were also at cost, but still.
Swapping out winter for summer will be so easy then. Going cheap on the wheels ... just not a good idea I think. 4 for the price 1/4th the price of dealer cost of official Porsche wheels (even less if you compare to real Turbo wheels)... there's a material difference. Its not just the brand name markup here... there is material, manufacturing, testing, etc costs that are obviously missing in the cheep wheels. Given how willing China is to poison our pets, and their own children, I'd not be surprised if the quality of the material and construction of those rims is questionable. They may hold up fine until the first ding, and then crack in some unrepairable way, and then what... you have no wheel to replace that broken one with.

Anyone know if the winter tire set on Carrera III 18's for the Targa 4 is still available for purchase?
The part number for the set is 997 044 600 12.
I've spoken with several dealers who were all able to quote prices; $4,800 - $3,200 - $2,760, but none could confirm that they would be available.
Second choice would be a package from tire rack but their OZ rims in 18 are only 10 and not 11 inches wide for the rears.
Any suggestions?

These wheels are Replica wheels, most likely made in China.
I wouldn't buy them, as I believe you get what you pay for. If you really want a set of these wheels, buy a set of take offs.
BTW, they are tough to keep clean.

Nah, i was just curious.
I am pretty much set on

First ones there - botticelli. They are a bit heavier than I want them to be but my wife approved the shape.
I wonder now - can I put my color Porsche center pieces into them or not? Or I probably should order new set of them from somewhere...
