iPod cord thru firewall....

yep
works GREAT
just need to get a longer cord for the iPod itself.
mounting the unit in the trunk doesnt allow enough length for the cord to the interior

You mind sharing your installation experience. I'm looking to do the same very soon and am deciding if I can do this myself. I'm pretty handy with wires and such but wanted to make sure it's a doable job before I commit. Appreciate any info you can share!
Thanks!

I have my ipod mounted in the trunk area next to the NAV DVD unit.
Did I run a cord thru firewall? no-
I mounted the interface unit there as well and tapped into the fiber ring behind the NAV DVD unit. Tapped power from the CD changer plug. Piece of cake - 20 mins

If you are leaving the iPod and/or Aux box in the front trunk, no need to run the cables through the firewall grommet. Many of our Dension customers get a dedicated iPod and just leave it up front. BUT....if you want the iPod in the cabin, glove box, etc, you'll need to run the cables. All cables and even the iPod clip mount are in our Dension Gateway 500 kits.
