Removing Cone Marks from Clear Bra ?

I attended PCA Drivers Ed this weekend and managed to take out some cones at high speed (Yee-HAAA).

The cone lefts some residue on my clear bra that i could not get of with wax (an my PC orbital).

What is the best product/solution to use to get them off without harming the finish and appearance of my VENTURE SHEILD clear bra.

...... C'mon I know you guys know as I'm not the first or the last guy to hit a cone on this site

I have heard that a rag soaked in WD40 and then held against the cone scuff for a few minutes.

I have scuff marks on both rear rock shields (in front of the rear wheels).

I usually recommend using isopropyl alchohol and just dab it on so it can soak a little. Then go back later and wipe it off with soap and water.

If it is a residue (black mark) left on the film then try this. If it actually scuffed the film then try buffing. Little steps though. Buffing some films can "haze" it.

Wax won't do much since it's has no abrisive quality. You need to polish the area with the scuff marks. If you have a PC, then you need a medium polishing pad like lake country orange ccs pad and a medium polish like Menzerna SIP. That usually does the trick. You may need further polishing with Lake Country white ccs pad and Menzerna 106FF. You may also be able to polish out the scuff by hand using a mild polish. Give that a try first. Do you have any polishes on hand?

just leave the scuff marks there..."battle wounds" ... it shows character

i just let it sit on the clear bra until my next pro-detail

Pretty hard to remove those type of scuff marks. Maybe a detail pro has a technique for their removal.

Next time use some painter's masking tape (widest type) to protect vulnerable areas.

ps. Just looked at your avatar and see you do use masking type. Next suggestion . . . . Don't hit cones! (lol)

Go to your local hardware store or automotive parts supplier (Kragen, pepboys etc.) and look for Goo Gone cleaner (googone.com). its made from all natural products and smells like lemon. Supposed to be harmless to most surfaces and biodegradeable. just like you, i hit a cone (not at track event, but on the freeway ) on my passenger side rear wheel well right on the clear bra and I tried everything and could not get it off. I was hesitant incase the color of the bra could change but VOILA! it worked great. Little elbow grease in INCREMENTS, little baby steps and took out two 4 to 5 inch black scrape marks right off. Its been 3 to 4 months and the area looks the same as before. Mind you, I waxed that same area every chance I got (insurance).
Good luck with your repair.

lol. goo gone does not smell like lemon. that's what i would have suggested also or 3m adhesive remover (which is like 25$).

I think a scuff on a painted surface vs. a clear bra are different animals. A painted surface is porous while the clear bra material isn't. Therefore it's much more difficult to polish or rub out abrasions.

I've used Goo Gone on adhesive residue and it works really good. I'm not sure if it works as well on scuffs.

Let us know if the Goo Gone technique works on your cone scuff.

If you have not already removed it ask your detailer. Brian in Dallas details my cars and he has taken marks from cones and other things off my car within minutes.

If you need his info let me know.
