The whole "warranty not transferrable" thing is pretty much standard, but I agree the vendor should stand behind their product if it failed due to a possible defect in workmanship- As it seems in this case. You'd think they would want the product back in their hands so they could take a look at what happened and maybe address a production design flaw.
If you had run over a rock or something and that caused the damage, well that is clearly different.

Here is a good experience- I bought a used RSS plenum from a member here, there was a problem with one of the bolt threads stripped out. Greg at RSS stood behind their product and replaced it for me free, and even put it on my pcar for free at their shop. Now that is GOOD SERVICE from a manufacturer / vendor!

I bought a few parts from AWE, and they were initially very good with customer service, repairs, etc.

I had a small issue happen which eventually got resolved (after a lot of work on my end).

In the end, I was happy to do business with them. Mike took care of things for me. Stories like this, however, make me somewhat hesitant to give them future business. They should help you out of good will, since you technically are a customer, and give you a few options for a solution.

What's up Raffi, I guess I have to come to you for warranty work according to Mike

I would love to hear the AH setup, as I am a tad concerned that they are as loud as the MBP's. I got my 997 back from my brother (he took over the lease for 10 mos..only drove it 200 miles)the tires were low, the battery was dead and when I drove it I heard this rattle that I knew right off the bat was a bad muffler. Are you still up in the hills?

Love to meet near West LA if we can..can you PM me your number I don't think I have it anymore.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with the AWE mufflers. Im actually in the market for some mufflers + tips, and was leaning towards AWE..but unfortunatly not so much anymore.

IMO, lifetime warranty should be lifetime warranty...doesnt matter who owns it when.

Glad you had it fixed up though.

Hello,

Just want clear things up here.

Yes, as stated on our site and in the paperwork, our warranty is for the original purchaser only. This is standard in our industry as well as many others. I ask you all to visit the warranty pages of some of our competitors and other aftermarket companies. This is nothing new. It has also come up before.

By purchasing from us directly, or one of our authorized dealers, you are not just buying product, but you are also purchasing before, during, and aftersale support on that product!

We had asked Dave for pictures to be sent to us so we could review the problem. Mostly because I wanted to see if there was any other obvious damage that would have caused the failure.

Dave, after reviewing the pictures I am afraid that you are probably going to run into this same problem again.

I would like the chance to update these mufflers for a small fee. We are now pinning the mufflers to keep things like this from happening. I have explained this all in a previous thread.

See here:
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ust-welds.html

One of the benefits of purchasing from us is that we do all of our manufacturing on site. We can change things on the fly if a problem arises. That is what happened in this case. We had some isolated issues and have handled it. Our new design is problem free.

As stated in previous post, both mufflers should be replaced with an agreed fee. IMO this is a fair response from AWE. I had stated that a new pair should be purchased and the price split in half. If the "small fee" is less, I say that is great cust service.

Thats good to know, if someone has the older design.

To be honest, I don't think those new welds will hold very long on that muffler..

I agree with jjc4scabs idea; something should be worked out for a small fee.

It's nice to see that AWE is looking after you. It would be a shame for them not to imo. "good" companies stand behind their product, and espeically their customers. You never know when one satisfied customer will tell their buddies, who tell other buddies, and so on. Good luck.

Great to see AWE offering up a solution. I want to upgrade the headers and CATs on my car over the winter (and when funds allow) and I like the feedback and responses from AWE on this board.
