i do take advice but if you advising me to buy a set of wheels that is only 1/2 less width then my stockers & even the tire companys are saying that its a waste of money,
my question only was which was a better 19" snow tire, but i've yet to hear from anyone with a 19" Snow Tire So far.

I wonder why...
It's not wheel width that matters but tire width and tire sidewall height that are important.

Okay?
why would the tire height matter? i thought that the only thing that matters is width because it will go thru the snow easyer & height will only help make a softer ride & less likey to break a rim right?

So if you're not worried about damaging the tire wall or rim with potholes in New England, go knock yourself out and enjoy your 19"s

I ran a set of Conti ts810s on my C4S with 19's last winter and loved them. I did go down to a 295 rear and they look just fine. I live in the mountains of S.W. Colorado where winters can also be very harsh (originally from N.Y.). If I am not mistaken Porsche recommends these tires as well (not sure).

You absolutely NEED snows. This is not open to question. Given your location, you should probably have them on already as summer tires should not be run below 40 degrees or so, regardless of whether there is snow falling. I strongly suggest new rims too. Not only are smaller wheels and tires better in the snow, but mounting and remounting the snows tends to raise hell with your wheels. Personally, I run 18" Carrera IIIs with Michelin Pilot Alpins in winter and 19" 997 Turbos with Michelin PS2s in summer. The C4 is amazing in the snow (as long as it isn't too deep).

I believe I ordered them from Tire Rack but I don't see the sizes listed right now. I think I paid about $1000 total.

I have a set of 18" Carrera III's with Pirelli 240's (same sizes as the stock tires on the 18's). I love the look of my 19's, but the extra bit of sidewall will hopefully help save my rims if I end up hitting a pothole.

Go with the Nokian WR's, they are continually rated the best snow tire. The Fin's know snow!

+1 seems everyone here has the same advice, but he's intent on using the 19s anyway. I'm not quite sure how someone from northern VT can even ask if snows are necessary. I wonder if this thread is for real.

With all due respect, I personally ran 19's with Contis all last Winter. I drove through a couple of blizzards and a generally very snowy Winter and had no problems whatsoever. In fact, the set up was excellent.
