Why So Expensive?
#46
You should come to Australia, and check out the base 997 price, it's more than AUD 200k! convert that to USD and it's Porsche GT2 price range. So when you can get a base 997 for USD 75k (which can only get you a BMW 335 here), I reckon it's a bargain! You guys are so lucky to be in the US.
Incidentally, my buddy runs an office for my company in Melbourne. We use that office because in USD their total cost per-head is roughly 70% what ours is in California. So aside from the steeper markup, you're making less money to do the same job. I hope your rents are cheaper!

That is why I bought one that was next to new and saved over $25k off a new one. Yes you don't get to pick every little option yourself, but for the savings, you can often find one that had everything you need and save a bundle in the process.
Let someone else take the biggest hit in depreciation - after that Porsches hold their value very well comparatively.
At least if price is your concern, there is no better value.
I got a 2007 with 8k miles on it and a longer warranty than factory (up to 100k ) because it was CPO
Unless you have to get the latest and greatest - then don't complain about the price of being on the leading edge. There are many of us here who will be glad to help you get out of that almost new car to get back into a new one!

Just look at the options list on a Carrera. You have to pay 3k extra just for some adaptive sport seats which come stock in a lot of sports cars now and days. You have to pay extra for a limited slip diff. That should def be a standard feature on any sports car. You have to pay extra for full leather. Leather on the dash? Common, that should be a standard feature for a 90k car. Gotta pay extra for dynamic cornering lights, which come standard on many cars now. Adjustable dampening (PASM), again standard on most sports cars now. High end Bose sound system that doesn't even sound that great, on many cars for free.
Here are the list of features that should be standard on a Carrera that would not make it over priced IMO.
Seat options - Power or Adaptive
Dynamic Cornering lights
Full leather interior(leather dash)
Limited Slip Differential
PASM
High end Bose Sound system
These options roughly add up to 9 grand. Make these options standard and a Carrera S would cost around 90k loaded with navi. Which is still an expensive car, but no over priced because you would be getting more for your money. Many of you guys say skip on options, but you shouldn't have to. Just my opinion. You can fool yourselves into thinking 100k for a Carrera S is a bargain, but it is not.

Why would you ever post something like this, seriously. I bet you think a Ferrari is worth it which would be totally contradicting.
Fact is a lot of the cars you mentioned wouldnt even have any brakes left after 2 laps around a track. Gimme a break no comparison. Drive down to FL and I'll let you drive one.
The 911 is WAY better. This is not opinion this is FACT.
Hell my 99' with 110K miles makes a better track car than the cars you mentioned. A WAY BETTER track car!

I think you mean Patek Philippe
I can tell you why I chose the 911 over those cars, because its the car I dreamed of as a little boy. I also used to dream of Patek Philippes but now I am a AP addict.

Well all I can say is
most of my collection is AP based. I love the RO but I'm a bigger fan of the ROO. Its pretty hard to find a tourbillon for under 45k. Take a look at JLC as their tourbillons are a bargain.
OK back to Porsche talk

Absolutely!
You might want to take a look at the limited edition JLC 1833 Grande Tourbillon, rose gold + dark chocolate brown dial - looks amazing.
If you like the look of the RO and ROO, but want a more sophisticated version, take a look at Patek Philippe's Aquanaut and Nautilus. All of them were designed by Gerald Genta who seems to have a nautical fixation.

PORSCHE. Their is no substitute. If you have to ask, you don't deserve one and if you ask why, you can afford one. It's a Porsche, case closed. You obviously have not been with the Ladies and Porsche owners are egomaniacs. Come on man get with the program.

Nissan G37 /997S
Ask the hot blonde down the hall if she knows the difference between a G37 and a 997....The Answer?
Maybe not the 0-60 times- but she definitely knows the difference....
