Why So Expensive?

Why So Expensive?
Guys, I am having a little trouble understanding how you can justify the 75k+ price tag for a porsche 911 when other car makers are offering same engine power, and still well designed chassises , more options, better sizes, for fraction of the price of a new porsche 911 ?
For example,
you can get a mid-engine layout with around 300HP infiniti G37 for 35K OUT THE DOOR !
you can get a BMW 335i for around 42K out the dollar which has just as much output and one of the best handling cars ever.
The new AUDI A5 ( redesigned ) is 40 K . Great engine , rear wheel drive and looks great.
Can you guys explain to me, why do you have to pay just a premimum just to own a porsche when you can get just as good of a car experience with other good makers?

Drive one, you will see the difference.
A 335 is probably the most capable car of the comparisons, but it is not and never will be a 911!
An A5/S5 is a big heavy pig, compared to the Porsche
A G37 is a tin can that sounds like a blender with a handful of bolts in it.
If you take a 911 to the track, it will embarrass all of them. That is why a Porsche is so much more.

How can you compare a 997 with a G37? Why get a Bentley when the new Hyundai's are almost as luxurious? I'm sure everybody knows the difference between the two. I'm sure somebody can answer that.

given by your questions, i'd think you have not driven a 911 extensively if at all. i mean that in a non threatening way. no offense...
911 is a sports car. it will feel like so because it is designed and equipped as such. although there are other cars with high engine output (M3, C63 comes to mind) but non of these car even with gobs of HP will feel like a sports car. Obviously, if you only want bragging rights of 0-60 times or need to haul 4 adults, a 911 isnt for you.
Many cars are entering into 911's market segment. None of which have been successful yet. Sports coupes and sedans that you've mentioned are just in a different class. I think once you get some good seat time, you'll know. It's up to you if it's worth it and what your are looking for.

Aside form the the engineering/technical aspect, lets look at it from an industry design standpoint. You will not mistake any 911 with any other car. It is 40 yrs of evolutionary design, this is brand building at its best. Why buy a Mac when you can get a PC for much less? Pound for pound, I am sure there are much better value out there. But each time I look at my c2s from a 3/4 rear view, I know it is worth every penny to me. But cars is not just about HP, 200 mph, engine sound... the first thing that draw your attention is the design: shape, colors, detail. I think Aston Martin Vantage is a beautiful car, (And love to have one if they can get their build quality together) but depending on the colors, that car kind of blend in, and now can be mistaken as a Jaguar. You will never see the 911 as anything else but a 911, no matter wut model year it is. I like all the other cars too, but just not as much. I am switching to an R8 soon, but I am looking forward to another Porsche(c4s) after a few years.

Drive one and you'll know why we love them. Fit, finish, feel, cornering, etc. and that engine "sound". P-cars can be tracked and then driven daily. Porsche has been around a long time and the 911 design is just so beautiful and lasting... Add some mods and they can be crazy fast - especially the twin turbos.......

The statistics on paper may be similar, but the car experience is anything but similar. If I wanted basic transportation, I'd buy a Kia, but I like my basic transportation to be a VW because of some features and feel of the transportation that I value. It does not matter that they both get me from A to B. Same with the 911...
It's why I'm not likely to buy any oriental designed cars, for example,... they just are missing a certain feel, characteristic, some indescribable something that I value.
If you don't get it.. don't buy a 911. Clearly, your money would be better spent elsewhere.

if you have to ask, the 911, let alone another Porsche is not for you! its the best sports car ever made. they arent the fastest straight line car out there, but the sum of all of its parts is spectacular. theyre some of the best at: handling, steering, fit and finish, driving dynamics and fun, etc. they are relatively rare compared to an m3, 335, clk, etc and have a lot of history and heritage and those all equal the high price. if you want the best, its gonna cost. you gotta pay to play.
my best advice, is, drive one, and youll understand. and youll prob never want to drive anything else but a 911 or Porsche again!

Did you just said “Oriental design cars” wut is this, 1960s? ; > I think there are plenty of cars from Asia are designed by top name design European Car design firm, and some Japanese car are design here in the US.

Why would you ever post something like this, seriously. I bet you think a Ferrari is worth it which would be totally contradicting.
Fact is a lot of the cars you mentioned wouldnt even have any brakes left after 2 laps around a track. Gimme a break no comparison. Drive down to FL and I'll let you drive one.
The 911 is WAY better. This is not opinion this is FACT.
Hell my 99' with 110K miles makes a better track car than the cars you mentioned. A WAY BETTER track car!
