Finally test drove extensively 2009 911 and 911 S PDK Coupes
I finally got a chance to Test drive extensivley 911 and 911 S PDK coupes
I first drove the 911 base PDk with 18" wheels and std suspension first and then drove the 911 S pdk and the drive included some bumpy roads
For me the 911 S sounded more visceral, PASM normal mode ironed out the bumps better over the 911 base, and around corners the wider foot print of 911 S 19" rubber gave better grip and PASM-normal controlled the body roll better IMHO. I could clearly feel the PASM -normal mode being more comforable on the bumpy road over the Std suspension. I tried PASM sport but it is still a bumpier ride, may a tad better than it was in my previous Cayman S in PASM-sport mode
I wanted to get the base 911 but for me thee 911 S was more exciting to drive and the extra torque/grunt and Horsepower is easily felt over the entire rev range
THe S obvioulsy felt more powerful when accelerating from a light, when passing etc and the 911 base was no slouch but the S motor's enhanced power ( 40 more horses and 22 lbs ftf of torque is apparent)
The 911 S had immense grip in 30 plus weather in NJ and never felt there were any tracion issues
so for me it will be the 911 S, ofcourse the 911 can be equipped with pasm, sports exhaust and 19" rubber but then it will be close to 911 S price minus the motor
