Will do sir!
But my concern now is whether to get '09 c2s or cayman s...
I'm sure they will get me a good deal on them when my mother signs another contract for her car...

I am completely biased to the C2S . The 911 model line is a multi decade benchmark of Porsche history . It has more power, comfort, and some might debate roadholding but I defy them to place a sport suspension and limited slip differential in a C2S and run a cayman s.

I am not a fan of the Cayman . Beyond the two seater daily driving impractical nature and its Boxter overtones for 10K more (than the convertible) it just isn't in the same league .

Many people get to own only one or two Porsches in a lifetime and my advice is to get the right one . The Cayman S is ALMOST the right one but long after your years with a 911 it's memory will remain in your heart .

I am on my 8th and I can not imagine what my life would have been like without the experience . I don't feel taht you will ever regret missing out on a Cayman S BUT I do feel you will always wonder if that car had only been a 911.

If it's within your budget, I would definitely recommend the 911.

I find it hard to believe that a 13%-15% discount is available on a 997.2; in stock or ordered.

I get the feeling they don't like to deal as much.

I'm starting my search in NJ also.

Catena is boasting 10K savings on 09's on their website in the individual car listings. I need to stop in to get more details.

If you're shoppping in northern NJ, swing by Jack Daniel's and ask for Eric Pardo. I bought mine from him. I bet you can get 10% on an ordered car. I did in 2008 before the 997.2 was available.

i can also vouch for eric pardo-he is a straight up guy-just tell him the kind of deal that you are looking for and he won't waste your time-i bought an 08 c2s (which i subsequently traded) from him in march of 08 and i got 10 grand off-on top of being a good salesman, he is a quality guy.

I am shopping too and the best I can find is 8% off MSRP from a Florida dealer. Anybody can give me a tip or point me to a dealer who can give a better discount?

Thanks.

vic-i would read the early part of the thread-you will get a lot of advice there. 8% is respectable for a florida dealer-to get the best deal, go to porsche.com, search the dealer's inventory in dealers close to you first, then going farther away if need be-find a car that you like, call the dealer and negotiate a deal on his present stock-you will find someone who wants to get rid of his/her car badly enough to cut you a good deal. good luck

Doc,

I have been watching this thread for a while. The car I like with the right options is in Florida and another similar car in California but Florida is closer to my state so I might make a deal tomorrow if I cannot find another dealer to beat 8%. This thread has helped me a lot.

Porsche651,

Got your PM. Thanks for the tip.

I feel 8 percent is a good deal . Going in person with a checkbook in hand and sitting next to the actual car that you are ready to buy on the spot improves your chances .

Do you have any idea how many Porsche dealerships get the "can you shave of a few more dollars" call ?

If you want the names of folks I bought my cars from PM me . As for the original poster's "15" percent on an 09 . I don't know anyone like that and I have many doubts about whether anyone is getting that price anywhere.

look-you are asking the question, so i will answer it. ray catena might be the biggest dealership in nj-they are offering $10000 off of 09 pdk cars-why not call them-i think they are in edison. how did i find this price? i just looked at their inventory-my suggestion over and over again. good luck.
