I will call around tomorrow and see what some dealers have to say..

After reading that other post it doesn't seem unrealistic to get 10 or 11% off a new car today...

08 leftover --yes .
heavily optioned unpopular color -- doubtful
anything else --I don't think so .

The difference between 8 percent and 11 on a 100 K car is three grand .

Find the car you like , the sales staff you feel confident with , and if you really want the car --post pics when you get it this weekend

Good luck,

I know . I think the 1K over invoice won't happen at all in this region .

I don't even think 11 percent is doable on a new car . Maybe a demo or a car with PDK and no sport chrono in Macadamia .

The market really is that strong for these cars . A new Porsche Carrera will always have a demand even in a down economy --especially in a vacation region with international customers .

That makes sense. I will shop around... I wouldn't mind getting the car up north and driving it down south,I'd be able to put some miles on it so by the time I got home I wouldn't have to suffer driving the car easy for the first 500 miles...

Wouldn't the dealers down here match any dealer up north?! A sale is a sale. right?!

A sale is a sale but things like inventory , overhead, regional demand , all play a role . If I really thought you could get these prices I would tell you and I do hope that you do . I wish you the best . These are great cars.

I am really excited to soon own a Porsche. This will be my first one!

I have read on other forums that even selling an ordered car saves the dealer a lot of money because they don't have to worry about inventory , overhead, regional demand. Its an easy sale for them with no extra cost. They should be willing to discount car that is sold before it hits the lot. Most ordered cars are cars the dealer already coming, they just change the allocation to how the owner wants the car.

I have read on another post(can't find the website) that someone has gotten 10% off there ordered car and that dealership is offering 13% some cars on the lot...

I have seen an "ordered" car on the lot where a customer backed out of the deal . It happens --especially in this economy but even in stronger times as sometimes deal breakers come up in the time it takes to place the order and drive the car off .

Of course dealerships like an order plus a deposit above watching you walk out the door but the deal is not 100 percent at that time .

You will really love your first Porsche . It's such a special time and I think you will find in this neck of the woods you will find happiness with the sales , service, and overall experience . Good luck.

True, BUT even if someone does back out of a order car the dealership still get to keep the deposit which is only in the dealers favor... right?

What dealership did you purchase your car from?! Do you know of someone that I can maybe talk to...

Thanks for answering all my questions!

Try out of the area like Atlanta where its cold outside and corporate, which is on the outs. They are the ones sucking right now. Champion will always tell you they fly out the door like pucks. Even Braman WPB will give you a deal

I just spoke with someone at Champion about a car they have on the lot and they gave me an impression I could get this car for $1,000 over invoice if I came in. He mentioned things are a little bit slow.

I'll keep you guys updated. I still think I prefer ordering a car to get exactly what I want. I am going to go to the dealership and talk to them today.
