I just ordered a 2009 C4S. My experience is this:

1. Remaining 2008 cars on the lot are by far the best deal with gigantic discounts (~$10-20k off).
2. 2009 cars that Porsche initially sent the dealer. The so called "Launch Cars". These seem to be the same colors/option packs at every dealer. $1-3k over invoice.
3. Ordered C2S 5-7% off MSRP.
4. Ordered C4S 3-6% off MSRP.

Discount on an ordered car will probably also vary by allocation (each dealer is different), date of allocation, if C2 of C4, and what options ordered.

My understanding is that there is only 10% dealer profit in the 2009's vs the 2008's at 15% so, again not as much room to discount.

Obviously each market is different as well, and up here in N. California there are still folks with $$$$ so deals are probably not as good as other areas.

I am sure one of the dealer guys might want to post and offer the "official" word.

Good luck, post and keep us updated and post pics when you get it!

Cheers

I doubt that you will see 10% off on any car, ordered or off the lot. My ordered car only had 10.5% between sticker and invoice. It was $85K sticker. Asking a dealer to sell you a car for a GROSS profit of $425 is a bit unrealistic. They still need to pay for the utilities, and the staff. $1K over invoice would be a great deal......

All you guys in South Florida make me mention I was there 2 weeks ago. Had a conference in Orlando so took a few extra days for a trip down the coast, out to the keys and back up I75 and I4 to Orlando. Very nice - but couldn't get over seeing all the alligators heading west on 41. And then there was the Impala renter while my 2 week old 997 sat at home in Australia!

Nice part of the country though.

Just got back from one of the local dealership. At first they wouldn't budge on the price until I told them I was shopping around and so far my best offer was 8%off MRSP and told them what my lease payment would be. We priced out a car how I wanted it, which came out to around 83k. The dealer took $3,500 off MRSP and plugged the numbers in the computer and got a lease payment of $10 more then the other dealer offered me who was giving me 8% off MSRP. He then told me "they can give you what ever discount they want, but they can change the numbers while pricing out the lease...."

BEWARE dealers can play with number! I am still shopping around for the "best" deal! I will keep everyone informed...

i think 10% should be doable in this horrible economy, for a ordered car.
please don't hit the dealer again until last week of the year!!!

if they see you hovering for a deal so early, they will take you for being desperate.

True.

It must be a pain to haggle for a good deal where you live.

The puirchase price looks great . I would not lease though . You will spend almost 50K to have that car three years and give it back with low miles leaving you with no equity .

Do you live anywhere near Shanford Ave in Brighton?

This will be my everyday car, and I will put close to 50k miles on in it in 3 years. I personally don't like to own a car more then 3 years. Once my lease is up, I just hand the dealer my keys and move on to my next car...

Then make sure you get 15k miles/year (the quote seems to be only for 10k)... because you'll pay a steep price/mile over 30k miles (during the 36 mo lease).

I am over 10k miles on my current car and will have 3 months left on my lease.

Does anyone know of a second hand lender that I could possible lease a porsche through? Because of the economy, rates are going to be rising the next few months...

Porsches are not the typical "pump and dump" type of car . This is the car to marry.
With Porsche leasing --By the time to pay all the extra miles , tires, service , disposition fee , and fix up the dings and scratches which may not comply after 50K miles --you will have bought the car --only to hand back the key.

Mel --you can get a great deal on an 08 leftover . The 09 cars are new and limited . Many will wait till months end but a savy dealership won;t have cars by then --unless a Macadamia non chrono PDK 4S targa happens to laying around .
