CATTMAN
You shouldn't be paying for than 15 hours. I think VF quotes 11-12 if I'm not mistaken but it always takes a bit longer. The install is not that complicated for people that work on Porsches all the time. Most of the install (bumper R&R, fuel injector R&R, plug R&R, 3rd radiator install, ECU flash) is pretty typical stuff and they should be able to do it in their sleep. Now you don't even run an oil feed line anymore as they're self contained. Mine is lubed from the engine oil still. The blower itself and the intercooler plumbing/intake system are the only things that should be new to them and on a lift with the right tools it's not that bad for someone that knows what they're doing. Remember Stacy is a hobbyist, doing this at home in his garage on jackstands. Totally different scenario.

I always recommend a shop that has experience for this type of install. It's not that it's that hard, but you don't want to be the first one. It's worth the drive to take it to someone who's been down this road. I was the second one at my now "ex-shop" who had the blower done and like I said before, they had it up and running in a few days. That included diagnosing a failed MAF after the install a couple of other small things. In the long run, they managed to do a bunch of stuff wrong (small stuff, nothing catastrohpic ie DV on backwards, etc) that Suncoast had to fix, but that was a result of a lack of experience and not a time factor.

Typically if the car is coming from out of town, a week is what the shop will want the car for. They will want to get everything installed (labor should not be more than 15-17hrs), and then give the car some road time to ensure everything is working properly, hose clamps are tight, and that everything is broken in properly, so the customer won't get 100 miles down the road and have an issue. That doesn't mean they are working on it for 40 hours. You don't want to cram the job into 2 full days, and at the end of the day, hand the customer the keys and let him drive away with it....even if they are local, lol.

Redridge.... Where did you find the pic? I'd love to do something similar, except I'd put a 90 elbow on the end of the plastic plumbing and have it point straight up. I have the room with my whale tail to do that. I'd just need to cut a whole in the decklid. Not to mention it would be somewhat isolated from the engine heat (sort of) and be exposed to a ton of fresh air. It would be a true cold air induction setup if I could pull that off.

So, where did you find that pic and I'll start my detective work from there

This is a real PITA !
Anyone with a helpful hint I am all EARS !

PS At least I know why they charge what they do to do an install!
I dont think anyone does a install as good as you would working on your own car. im sure it would work and be ok but they wouldnt put that extra effort into it.
by the way kick *** work

I mangaged to run the IC water-pump and MAF wire today.
I picked the brake line that best suited the route I wanted to take for the water-pump wire and zap strapped it every 5-6" to secure it.

I then removed the wheel well liner to gain access behind the windshield washer reservoir and through the grommet to gain access to the battery area.

Once in this area I ran the wire along the AC line to the far side of the battery.I then had a buddy(with a stereo shop) come over and wire the relay and battery terminal. We ran the 12 volt trigger wire to the windshield washer nozzle.Shown here where I am pointing. We also used a relay with a proper plug instead of just using speaker type clips to join the wires.I removed the battery terminal bolts,so that we could use ring terminals. The battery bolts just never seem to go back together well.So I replaced them with some new ones.

Anyway tomorrow is check for fuel and water leaks and turn engine over to check for belt alignment.

I've done some searching with no luck. We need to track this install down. I'd love to hear if he had MAF problems, etc with the intake so close to the blower.

Sorry,I should have said +source when key is in 'ON' position.

They also say to use 50/50 mix of distilled water and phosphate free coolant...Is this what you guys put in the IC lines?
I have heard of things like adding Water wetter as well,comments...?

You can get Peak 50/50 lifetime or similar for less that $10 a gallon.
