OK I made a huge mistake!!

Gee, and here I am feeling guilty buying a set of Damptronics and roll bars for my '05 997S - that I bought pre-owned. I'm either in the wrong SES for this forum, or waaaay too conservative
But I am very supportive of all you contributing to turning the economy around

I wouldn't feel that way I mean bang for the buck you're way ahead of us Going from the stock suspension to the damptronics on your car will make such a difference. I'd probably add some stiffer sways in there to smoothen the transitions too....

I agree, I think the Damptronics are a great upgrade.
I think he has sway bars, he is calling them roll bars.

Ahhh... I wonder if he's English because we call them "anti roll bars" there I think alignment/tweaking is key but once you're set up the handling is truly something else. Don't get me started on the LWF either That's one other thing I can't do with my 09 PDK

+1 on that.
I too made the mistake of test driving one. Other than the immediate urge to rip out the lexus-quiet mufflers, I was left feeling very impressed.
...I also enjoyed the "*** vaccuum" ventilated seats
New goal for later this year..

I wish I could use the 'he's English' as a valid excuse. For some reason, I have a brain/association issue with sway bars. I KNOW they're sway bars, I've been CORRECTED numerous times that they're sway bars, but because they are designed to deal with 'roll', I keep typing what my brain says I shouldn't. So sad...
But I sincerely do appreciate people being rather diplomatic when correcting my error. Probably hopeless though.
Oh and yes, I did add the H&R ones. I was surprised that only one of the set had three holes for adjustability. I would presume they both would. Anyone know why?

And yes, from what I've read, and from previous experience, the Damptronics swap seems like the best price/performance improvement for most P-cars. That's presuming you fall in to the 'handling is more fun than raw speed' camp. Yep, that's me.
Since I see many posts about 1/4 mile times and the like, it seems like the speed faction of Porsche owners would rather put their money somewhere else and comprises a significant fraction of P-car enthusiasts.
I guess there is a final 'bling over all else' camp. 22" wheels in chrome, Porsche crests on every textured and painted surfaces, liberal sprinkling of carbon fiber fiber inside and out and the rarely seen silver hood crest.
Truth is, no one camp is better than the others. Porsche's are all luxuries, not necessities so even the concept of ROI is an odd one.

I have just (18 hours ago!) taken delivery of my new car, a standard c2 with the sport suspension option, (p17 option, which includes the -20mm PASM and LSD). It is certainly more stiff, but to me, it feels just right. We all have a different opinion of what is firm, and what is obnoxious. My fiance` agrees that the car feels fine on the standard setting. It does not feel like a race car, and that is a good thing. To my mind, it feels like a really well damped sports car. Now, I will admit, this verbose opinion comes after just 25 miles of driving, but I think it feels terrific.

Ahh, that's helpful. I had been hanging out in the TT forum and the references there had all the bars having multiple settings. BTW, the reason I spent more time there is that there seemed to be many more entries over there on suspension mods than here on the 997 forum. Interesting. OTOH, there may be more entries for all types of mods over there.
I can exhale now - given that I'd hate to pay to swap out the bar. Watching (via a few photos that my tech sent me during the surgery) the swapout, it was a lot more work than I had expected - though I had no basis for my assumptions.
And, separately, if the question re having young kids was posed to me, actually not at all. My youngest just headed off to UCSD last weekend. I think you're confusing having large financial obligations with just being frugal

Ah no worries we know what you mean You're right about the H&R sways in the front having no adjustments. The Porsche GT3 ones do have adjustments for the front. For some reason _all_ narrowbody 2WD cars don't get adjustable front sways from H&R. Just the wide... Maybe they know the AWD cars understeer more and don't mind us playing....
