OK I made a huge mistake!!

So I went to the Porsche dealership today to go and look at a Cayenne as the family hauler. Well while I was there, I had the bright idea to look at the 09 911 S. Big mistake. Then I test drove it. Bigger mistake!! So I've read all the feedback before but that car with the PDK, sport suspension, chrono, and the new nav system really is a completely totally different car from mine. It seems like they improved everything. The suspension, the brakes, and the acceleration!! I got to test out the launch control and my buttometer told me it was a lot faster than mine.

So after 5 month it may be time to take the hit and put it up for sale. I think I may have to get the 09. So a word of warning to all 997.1 owners, stay away from the 997.2, and whatever you do don't test drive them !!

I know the feeling all soooo well !
I have been guilty of buying a car for just the way it looked, nevermind the way it drove!

As quoted above the only thing to suffer is the wallet, but hey "It's only money" !
Now go put a smile on your face and purchase what appears to be your next love,LOL !

This one had the pasm with the sport suspension so it was lowered 20 mm. I got to take it through a turn that I've taken my car threw a few times at about 80, and the .2 just felt a lot more planted, but I do agree about the connected.

Not sure if it is because of the steering wheel with the PDK but I do feel more feedback on mine, then again maybe this one handles so much better I wasn't even close to the limit

I did the same stupid thing, and have the itch now...I do think the 997.1 feels a little more "raw" as you say. The Big difference is the low end on the 997.2..it feels "****ed and ready to rumble" in the 20mph range.

As I ponder this, having just bought my first PCAR in August, I don't want to have to renew the sin again in 2011(?) when the launch for the new guy is out...so maybe I wait.

What recession??? My wife thinks I'm insane...so I pointed to the 6 hand bags and the 10 pair of shoes that would have almost paid for half of the hit I would take doing the trade...she soflty said " what time are you going to be back from the dealership

Dealer did a head fake on a previous agreed amount for my trade when I came in to put the deal in writing... So I walked but that's another story..

A bigger mistake would be to have made a quick descion on buying it. The good thing is that you drove home with out it. Go home, sleep on it, if you still feel it is the right choice then do it.

I look forward to seeing a 997.2 with or without PDK on the track, and seeing what my slightly modifed "slow" 997.1 can do up against it.

Good thing I haven't driven a 997.2 yet - I can't afford to fall in love.

I never use to make this kind of mistake, however I seem to make of them with age and financial success?????
I bought a DB9 which was a very good looking car, but never fell in love with it. Like living with another person, small defects can cause you to hate it.
So now I go for my first Porsche. I have driven many Porsches, however never owned one. Finaly passed on what I had ordered and went and drove a 09 turbo and 08 RS spider. The boxster is better handling, more feedback, and more fun. Practical side is greater than the 911 due to truck space. More fun, more practical = car in the garage.
So now I love my new Porsche so much that I can’t wait for my next one and passed on driving the .2 because it couldn’t be better than the turbo; right??? Basically, I don’t want to find out right now, however have been thinking of a test drive.
The only thing lacking in my Boxster is LSD and the 3.8. I call Ruff and they can fix for 40K… They even offered free shipping both ways???
I wish there was a drug for this.

A new Porsche will get you through times of no money but money will not get you through times of no Porsche.

After having one for these last 5 months I totally agree, I don't think I'll be without one again.

Already have them working on the numbers to see what they can do trade-in and purchase price wise. Hoping I won't take too big a hit since I think I bought my car right, otherwise I'll just have to keep it. Its too good a car to get low balled on.
