C2s on the open market
#31
It's a very tough used car market right now. I think the OP should take the opinions in this thread and price it depending on how quickly he wants to sell it. If he wants to move it quickly... high 40's. If he doesn't mind waiting for that one buyer with money, low 50's...

bingo
offerings priced too high are not moving...at all. Its that simple.
buyers are too cautious and sharp right now

8 weeks ago, central Florida, advertised in a variety of venues my very clean 06 911S (tiptronic, almost new rear skins, nothing else very special) with 16,300 odometer for $55,900. Did not get a single response.

The hard sell is the Tiptronic. Most NON manual drivers are drooling for PDK.

As someone who's a buyer in this market here's what I've seen:
1) A NEW '08 C2S coupe MSRP $91K I can buy for $71K
2) A CPO '07 911TT with 6400 miles - tiptronic, sport seats, sport-chrono, Red/Black I can buy for $89,500. No stories, clear title and with the extra warranty.
3) A '07 911 C2 with 6000 miles, stick, power seats, clean title, $48,500.
4) A '07 911TT with 5000 miles, loaded up (console painted, carbon fiber package, etc etc.) Tip just sold for $80,200 on Fleabay. Clear title.
5) A NEW '09 C2S coupe, MSRP $98k, I can buy for $88k. Loaded up, stick.
I was going to go for a C2S, but now I'm thinking Turbo...
Now on the flipside my trade is a '07 BMW 335i hardtop convertible - 12,500 miles, mint condition (detailed every 3 months). Loaded up with every option (including radar cruise) and some OEM M-Sport options from Europe I had installed. MSRP $65,5, Paid $60K 1.5yrs ago, they're offering me $34K in trade. So that sucks of course.

find consolation in that the haircut you're about to take is directly applied to the new car you will be buying.
it evens out.
where is this car? i might be interested

Definitely the moral of the story is that the relative prices between cars stay the same. I may have gotten $42K for my 335i 4 months ago but would've had to pay $8K more for any of those Porsches too. So it's all the same.
that $48,500 911 C2 just sold at Lamborghini Dallas.

Lemons to lemonade
I've cried enough. The $40-45k (+tax!) I was prepared to spend on trading my 06 C2S will stay in some crummy CDs and I quit worrying about the 3000 boring miles I was going to have to drive properly breaking in the new one. I completed some great mods and had it detailed again a couple of weeks ago, I'll probably get an extended warranty, and I'm planning to keep it "perfect" and enjoy the hell out of it for 2-3 more years. Maybe the 2011 change, if it still comes, will be exciting. I'm sorry Porsche and the US economy, but what's going on in Washington now is a lot scarier than what's happened in the past.

Keep in mind that the 08's and TT's are the best deals and I have been saying this for a long time. The 08 car new -- at a Porsche dealership ? That 89K TT is a CPO? If not I'd pass.
A down economy brings ood deals but it also brings out the real scum of the auto sales industry too. Be careful when something looks too good to be true.
