Did you get a clear bra?

Just curious to know if you guys decided to get a clear bra on the front or not? Did it matter for you that your car is/is not your daily driver?

I got my car (black) used, but with basically no rock chips, and decided not to get the bra. (Asking price was around $1000 here for a good installer.) This car is my daily driver in the snow, rain, and whatever else, on the highway and also barreling down backroads. My 5 yr old and 3 yr old are in and out of the backseat everyday. That said, I take the best care of it I can.

Assuming that when I sell it that I will be trading at the dealer and not private sale, I don't imagine that the dealer is going to give me anything more on a 40k miles or so car on account of the bra.

Mine is a Seal Grey '06 997S that was Porsche Certified Pre-owned and already had clear bra. This is not my daily driver, and I would have had clear bra applied if it was not already on the car. Our GTi (driven 20K miles annually) and our S6 (driven 10K miles annually) also both have clear bra.

The clear bra just gives me a little bit more peace of mind when trucks and cars in front of me on the freeway happen to drop debris or kick up debris. Aesthetically, I'd rather see a little clear bra than a bunch of chips in the paint.

I put a clear bra on for $900 installed. Love it and would never drive without one again. I did NOT put one in my old car and it had so many rock chips that I would have had to repaint the hood and two fenders and it would have cost me $1500 in paint work. Clear bra is much cheaper. Also peace of mind driving behind other Porsche's with wide sticky tires that kick up alot of rocks

I think putting a clear bra on it is like buying an expensive couch and wrapping it with plastic. Sure it will keep it clean, but it isn't as nice as couch it's self.

I have clear bras on my cars and really believe they are a good investment. However, in your situation, I agree that the dealer probably won't give you more money on a trade in because of your clear bra.

I have clear bra on my 997S, and for me it is the best money spent. The key is to find a good and reputable installer.

With best regards,

Clear bra = peace of mind. Money well spent and worry free freeway driving for me. I had the entire front half of my car wrapped in Venture Shield.

I guess I'm a freak but yes. Have it on my M3, minivan, and even though my C4S was pre owned with a few scattered rock chips, I bought the touch up paint and my clear bra installer touched up the obvious ones here and there. Then did venture shield all the way back to the doors including full hood. It gives me some peace of mind that things will not get any worse.

Bought the car with it....and pulled it off!

Couldn't stand the line edge...kept getting people say "Sorry, what happened"..because they thought it was scratched/keyed!
I would just rather repaint it when it gets bad eonough.
BTW-my car is black.

I have sat on the fence with this since I bought my car . If I lived in Norcal there is no question that I would bring it to this place called Premier where just about every poster has praised by how pleased they were. I don't.

In my area it's 3M -- not only that ALL of this stuff is visible. Some of it yellows . No matter how great the car looks I can always see "the line" . Plus installing it is not cheap . To do an entire car is very expensive but lets just throw the random $1200 (hood , fenders, bumper ) for sake of argument.

It's an eyesore . So is a chip . Is a chip going to knock 1200 off ? It might . Then again one might not get a chip . Plus if another car hits you its has to be painted anyway . If a rock slides off a mountain it wil have to be painted too.

As you can see I am still on the fence. When in doubt I say no. I won'r clear bra my other cars . If I track the car at some point I wil get it . But to take it onto the city it's cheaper to replace the hood entirely than wrap the entire car.

I just don't know. I have yet to make up my mind. It just looks so great unwrapped . eeeesh.

I planned to after factory delivery. However the hassle and expense to then ship the car to a Bra specialist was not good so in the end I changed my mind.

Good job I did as after 1 year I have lots of chips on the roof above the windscreen and on the top of the rear wheel arches. Neither of these areas I would have covered with Bra, so I would have ended up with a condom covered front bonnet for nothing.

So I am glad I didn't.

Plus gives me a reason in a few years to put on a bodykit should I get bored with the looks

Yes.

I have a love/hate relationship with them, but due to a 80 mile roundtrip daily commute I have them on all my cars.

The Carrera has a full bra meaning that the entire front end up to the windshield and back to the shut line of the front doors is completely covered. I also asked to have the A-pillars covered since I tend to get chips there as well. And, of course, both mirrors are covered.

It instills quite a bit of extra confidence when you are rapidly approaching the tail end of a dump truck.

Over Carrera White it is not really noticeable at all unless you look for it. Having a full rather than partial makes it even less visible.

I actually had a small piece of a car fly off of the back of a crushed-car hauler one time that nailed the driver's side mirror of my Boxster S. My God you should have heard the noise it made upon impact.....scared me to death.

The bra was damaged, but when removed for replacement the paint underneath was good as new.

Have Invisashield on mine. Supposed to be owned by 3M. DIY'd it for $ 300. Difficult to see and it's not perfect but I put it on to eliminate stone chips and 7 months later it is doing just that.If it turns yellow or green or whatever, I'll just replace it. No matter how you have it done, I would highly recommend it and the sooner the better 'cause clear bra's won't hide chips already on the car.

Clear bra on the entire front bumper, hood, front fenders, mirrors and behind the rear wheels.

My car is GT Silver and after fighting rock chips for years with my last sports car (Acura NSX) I put a clear bra on immediately after taking delivery.

I agree with a few others above, the installer is the most important part of the process. The best film applied by an idiot is 1,000 times worse than the worst film installed by an experienced installer.
