Illuminated door sills
Here's a poll above:
What's the feeling here about illuminated door sills? I'm tempted to buy some from Suncoast and get them installed.
Are they total garbage bling or are they a fun addition?

Well, it's a poll, so people don't have to answer so much as click on the button that most closely matches their thoughts.
I thought it was kind of an interesting question because Porsche positions itself as a sports car with great track capabilities, yet it also has more freaky cosmetic options than anyone else. Forget seat belts in 4 different colors, but air vent slats in exterior color? How about yellow? Yellow cars with yellow wheels? It makes the BMW "Individual" program look mass market.
The question goes to where do you draw the line between performance and total BS. It's just another opportunity for folks to consider where they draw that line.
If I were speccing out a car, I'd be real tempted to get a black interior with red belts, red dials, and red deviated stiching in the seats, and illuminated sills. It would be fun... for at least a little while.

if there is a light behind it, then i probably would pass given the choice. less wiring is better
now if its a reflector type thing, it would be ok.
i pick up my car on thursday and will have to see if i have this

Myself, just took delivery (from Suncoast) of Carrera S carbon fiber non-illuminated door sills yesterday. Had them on a 996 C4 cab and liked the look. Will see them every time I open the door, so, though does nothing for performance, does something for my pleasure.

The illuminated door sill were surprisingly tough to install. It's not that it was such hard work to do it, it's just that it was more entailed than I would have thought it would have been. They look great on the car though and I think that they are well worth it. Plan on taking about 4 or 5 hours to do it correctly. The door panels came off and all the wiring was run into there in order to get the power for the sills to light up. You go through the kick panel, through the rubber going into the door and do all your electrical work in the door. I would expect that a shop would charge about $600.00 to install a pair of these if they know what's involved.
