Greek, have you gone to Bert Smith in St. Pete and spoke with Phil Perry on your car? If not I highly suggest you should for the best possible deal and service.

I bought a runout 2008 997.1 in November - one of the last Porsche Australia had - saved 20% off new and am really enjoying it. But lets be real and admit that if we can afford the latest and greatest most of us would do it. I would!

Alright guys, I made the plunge and bought a Porsche....

Only thing was it wasnt a 997.2. I was talking numbers, trying to decide between a 997.2 and a new E92 M3. Well, as I am talking to my buddy, and Andrew (DeputyDog95) the salesman walks up and tells me there is a special deal with leases for 10 days only, and lets just say, he gave me a SMOKING DEAL on a Porsche Carrera 997.2 S!! Couldnt pass it up, so here I am, a new member of the Porsche community, converted from the M Division of BMW.....

Hey Luis,

Whats up man? How is Arizona treating you? I heard you got a E46 M3 now. I didnt end up getting DKG. I know, I know, its a bad mama jamma, but I am a 6speed manual guy. Andrew is the WORST friend to have in terms of peer pressure. Just always behind my ear telling me how the Porsche clubs are great, and everyone hugs each other, with high fives and all.

I still can't believe "Nervous Nelly" pulled the trigger. The hand wringing, phone calls, and pacing were priceless This car was a no brainer. Nicely optioned black on black S for $200ish a month more than a M3. 911FTW

My old man and I had an 997.2 C2S PDK out today. It snowed 6" last night. It had snow tires on it and it was perfect. You didn't even need the AWD. Great car!

I have to admit I'm a little jealous. That car is sooo much nicer than the 996's. Everything about them has been upgraded. The LED's on the front look just sick during the day!

Congrats Nick!!

Dirtmerchant is infamous around these parts
6speedonline noob here.

Congrats on pulling the trigger.

I've been following this thread with great interest. I have been going through the exact same process as The Greek, looked at and loved the M3 Coupe but have always wanted a 997. Started looking at used 997.1 C2S but the leftover 08's appeared to be better values given my situation. Then I made the mistake of driving a 997.2 so now I'm considering ordering either a 997.2 C2 or maybe C2s.

Greek, I am in SW FLA (naples) and would appreciate if you could PM me who and where you got your "Smoking Deal", I can use all the help I can get.

i have until the end of the month to close out a deal on a gen1 4s cab - same issues as greek etc - 22% off list so below cost. they will also lease as new until end of Feb - hence the fuse. that jams the tail end residual up and this new one is cheaper than the used 4s's right now!

engine and other improvments of gen 2 make the decison hard, but in this case with the 4s model, the gen 1 doesn't have that questionable reflector strip.

DeputyDog95 - Thanks buddy for sticking around the whole day. Couldnt have even come close to getting that deal without you. I keep falling more and more in love with the car everytime I drive it. And yes, the pacing, phone calls, upset stomach wasnt my best hour.....

As far as people considering a leftover 08 997S over a 997.2, personally to me it was a no brainer. The 09 997.2 felt way way more responsive, refined, and also the upgraded accessories make it a simple decision. I was quite disappointed when I drove the 08 997S. The funny thing that got me was the salesman was a smart little bastard. He made me drive the 997.2 S first, so EVERYTHING else I drove after wasnt close to the quality and performance. I mean come in, a Nicely loaded 09 997.2 S for $200ish more a month than a 60K M3? I had to take it.....

Yrralis - The car is blk/blk. Options are: Chrono, PASM, heated seats, ventilated seats, navigation, bose upgraded stereo, adjustable sport seats with memory, ipod intregation, bluetooth

Nice ride. Congrats!

I have to agree, that the current 997.1S really pales in comparison. I've owned two 997Ss and a 997tt and have to say that the 997.2 is a brilliant car. I am having difficulty choosing between a 997.1 gt3 and a 997.2S, unless, of course my 2010 gt3 becomes a reality. I just hope that my dealer gets one.
